My career goal is to become an elementary school teacher who helps students build confidence, and feel supported as they grow in their academic and personal journeys. This passion I have for education is because I believe teachers do much more than teach curriculum, they inspire, encourage, and help students recognize their potential in themselves. Through leadership roles, tutoring younger students, and hosting farm tours and workshops for younger students through my SAE, I have learned how meaningful positive learning environments are. As an educator, I hope to create a classroom where every student feels seen, valued, and capable of success.

Thomas Griffin Wilson Memorial Scholarship
From a very young age, I have learned that the most meaningful impact we receive in this world starts from the relationships we begin to build on in life. Throughout my involvement within the Future Farmers of America (FFA) Organization and other community organizations, I have been able to shape this belief of mine. Whether organizing events, leading a workshop, or working with peers of mine, I have seen the immense impact showing up for others has.
The relationships I have built were based on trust, empathy, but as well as growth. As a first generation student, my family has always been my foundation and root of learning. Beyond my family, I built these strong connections within organizations and programs such as Panther Buddies, where I worked to increase the friendship activities for students with significant disabilities. Relationships like these, taught me the importance of patience, understanding, and creating spaces where all people feel valued and heard.
Along with this, I have been able to travel and serve across Southern California as the California FFA Southern Region Vice President, giving me the opportunity to connect and serve the over 18,000 members of my region. Within leadership conferences and workshops, I focused on building genuine relationships with the members, encouraging them to find their place in our organization and identifying their sense of self. This experience has shown me the smallest moments have the biggest impacts on others, and allow me to create lasting change.
Thomas Griffin Wilson’s story resonated with me a lot, especially with his ability to make meaningful connections with others. Like him, I want to strive to lead with kindness and empathy and make others feel supported in any environment I am in. Whether it was through a leadership conference, event, or community service project, I always aimed to build certain communities in inclusion.
The scholarship will assist me in continuing to pursue my education after high school in urban learning, where I can impact others as well as an elementary school teacher. I will be able to expand my efforts in serving the community around me, whether providing mentorship, promoting awareness, and creating programs for all students to feel supported while developing in their education.
Overall, I want to continue making the same kind of relationships that shaped me, built on empathy, trust, and kindness. With these connections and programs, I believe I can continue to create a stronger, and more compassionate community.
