Hello my name is Adam Rabon, Ever since I was a child i've always been into building and creating, from tree houses to taking apart almost anything I could get my hands on. I grew up in the motocross industry with my father being a professional mechanic, traveling to and from races all across the U.S. My interest in welding came about during high school when my friend took a job at a local machine shop owned by a family friend. During my countless days spent there after school i developed an interest in welding and custom fabrication there hearing stories and seeing projects being built. Occasionally id get a chance to try my hand at welding on random scrap metal. After high school i took a job in the oil and gas field working in cathodic protection. Thats where i first heard of pipeline welding, and knew thats something i wanted to do with my future but the timing was off for me to attend school. After leaving the pipeline to try my hand at somthing different i spent the next couple of years learing the trade of steel framing. As i developed my skills and spent more time working i began to become someone the boss sent to clean up jobs that others didnt finish, ensuring the job would be completed upon my departure from the jobsite and all inspections would be passed. during my time there and my limited crew i had to go back and fix others mistakes would take some creative thinking having to move trusses with decking already attached. Most recently i had the pleasure of helping a friend fix the exhaust on his truck where it had a weld break in the down pipe in order to get that fixed i had to get a ratchet strap and dead blow to get it back into position for us to weld it back together. I like to arrive to any appointment or work early in order to get a good start on my day and ensure time to asses the days tasks. my participation in class is good im eager to learn and always taking time after class to really process what i learned. I am currently working on custom turbo kit for my friends drift car in my time off when i can make it to the shop. Why i chose welding was because of all the different disiplines from pipe welding structural to custom fab and race shops.

My name is Adam Rabon, I’m interested in welding because it’s a skill that combines creativity, precision, and hands-on work. Welding allows me to create strong, functional structures from raw materials, and I find it exciting to see a project come to life through welding. I also like the variety in the field, as it can involve working in many different industries like construction, automotive, or manufacturing, and offers many opportunities to specialize. One example of my problem-solving and adaptability skills happened recently when my best friend's exhaust cracked and fell off right past his downpipe. We lifted the truck with a floor jack and placed jack stands for safety, allowing me to crawl under and assess the issue. After inspecting the damage, I realized it wouldn’t be easy to line the exhaust back up. However, I came up with a quick and creative solution: I used a ratchet strap to pull the exhaust together and a dead blow hammer to persuade it into position. This allowed me to realign the exhaust and get it welded back into place, just as it was originally from the factory. This experience helped me sharpen my ability to think on my feet and find creative solutions to mechanical problems, which is crucial in welding and other trades. My plan is to enroll in a welding certification program after graduation. I’ve researched local trade schools and found a program that offers both classroom instruction and hands-on practice, which I believe will help me build a solid foundation in welding. I’ve also talked to a few local welding shops about possible apprenticeships or job-shadowing opportunities. I’m in the process of applying for internships that would allow me to gain practical experience while I continue my education. I’ve also been researching welding techniques and staying up to date on the latest technologies through online resources. If you called an adult in my life, they would recommend me for this scholarship because I am passionate about learning and committed to my goals. They would mention that I’ve always been hands-on, eager to learn new skills, and dedicated to improving my craft. They would highlight my strong work ethic and ability to take initiative on projects, as well as my determination to pursue a career in welding. They would also emphasize that I have the drive and focus to succeed in the trade and the discipline to complete any challenges that come my way. Adam Rabon

Hello my name is Adam Rabon, Why i want to pursue a career in welding is because of all the opportunities it will open up for me. I think if i had a picture perfect future id go work in the shipyard save my money build a welding truck and get my foot in the door on the pipeline spend 10- 15 years on the right of way. When i decide to settle down start working from home, I have a welding truck and having it hopefully paid off by the time im ready to leave the pipeline id be able to come home and start a mobile welding business, helping stranded tractor trailers building pipe fence fixing gates, local pipeline jobs, welding at the racetrack. I would like to eventually work my way into starting a custom fab shop where i can start to build race cars and hopefully create some parts that i can sell. Or have my welding truck at Motorsport events to help other enthusiasts keep their car rolling to finish out the event. I’ve also considered the option of building custom steel structures, container homes barndominums. There are so many options with welding and so many different disciplines tig stick mig and flux core and so many different jobs with every form of welding. The ability tig roll cages for drift cars in formula drift or grassroots events, circle track cars or even build off road chassis and parts for off-road racing that would go on to race the Baja 1000 or the mint 400 or even just go rage in the dunes of glamis and pismo beach would be awesome. Welding is and art form where you get paid your worth for your skills there’s nothing to hold you back from reaching your goals or excelling in your field with the right mental discipline. Also teaching your kids from an early age what it takes to build the life you want whether it be as a fabricator, a racer or whatever they decide to pursue hard work pays off and never giving up is often rewarded. I’m happy to finally start my future as welder no matter where this trade take me i will always take pride in my work and what i do its not for everyone but i really couldn’t imagine doing anything else for the rest of my life. Thank you for consider me for your scholarship Adam Rabon

Hello my name is Adam Rabon, Growing up I was always mechanically inclined and like to work with my hands. As i got older i realized college wasn’t for me so i decided to cut outta high school early get my ged and go to work on the pipeline. Which is where i got my first ideas of pursuing welding as a career, I wasn’t in the position then to take the time and enroll in trade school from the lack of family support and having to support myself. I have worked in many different fields after my first job as an adult from steel framing to working in paper mills as a mill wright with various odd job in between. Currently I’m working at Home Depot where they are working with my school schedule to pursue a career in something i can really see a future in. My post graduation plans are to go to the shipyard save my money build a welding truck and pursue a job in the oil fields until it is time for me to come home and settle down where i can work as a mobile welder, custom fab shop, or a local union. I have thought long and hard on what i saw for my future and i feel my best option for the future i want is thru welding . Thank you for taking the time to consider me for your scholarship. Adam Rabon
