Growing up as a Palestinian raised outside of Palestine, my heritage has always been a central part of my identity. My family’s history is shaped by displacement, resilience, and perseverance, and those experiences have deeply influenced the way I approach life and education. From a young age, I was taught that opportunity is never guaranteed and that education is one of the most powerful tools for building stability, purpose, and impact. Being Palestinian has instilled in me a strong sense of responsibility to make the most of every opportunity I am given. As part of the Palestinian diaspora, I carry the legacy of generations who faced uncertainty yet remained determined to move forward. My family emphasized the importance of education not just as a career path, but as a means of empowerment. Watching my parents and relatives work tirelessly despite obstacles taught me discipline, humility, and persistence. Their sacrifices shaped my belief that challenges are not barriers, but tests of character and commitment. This mindset continues to guide me through my academic and personal journey. Coming to the United States to pursue higher education was a defining step in my life. It required adapting to a new academic system, cultural environment, and increased personal responsibility. As a Palestinian student, I often felt the pressure to prove myself and to show that my background is a source of strength rather than limitation. Through this transition, I learned independence, resilience, and the importance of staying focused on long-term goals even during moments of uncertainty. Academically, I am pursuing an engineering pathway with the goal of earning a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. I am currently completing my associate degree and plan to transfer to a four-year university to continue my studies. Engineering appeals to me because it combines analytical thinking, creativity, and real-world problem-solving. I am motivated by the idea of designing systems and solutions that can improve lives and contribute meaningfully to society. My long-term goal is to build a career in engineering where I can apply my skills responsibly while creating a stable and impactful future.
