Serving others has always been a passion of mine. From being in elementary school and helping my mom set up for events at church, to going on mission trips with my youth group in high school, to serving students at Toccoa Falls College, I have always wanted to help others. My mom tells me that when I was younger, we used to receive the Compassion International magazines in the mail. She reminds me that I would come to her with tears streaming down my face, begging her to let me go across the world to help the hurting and sick children. That same passion and fire for helping others is within me today. One way I want to make a positive impact on the world after I graduate college is to become a missionary. I currently have a minor in Global Missions at Toccoa Falls College, and each class I take helps prepare me to go out onto the mission field. I have a heart for impoverished communities in third world countries, because most of the time, they do not have the means to change their situation. I especially care for the single moms and their children of those countries, as they often are not allowed to get jobs that will allow them to feed their children or move to somewhere that is safer for themselves and their kids. When I graduate, I will listen to God's calling and go where He leads me, and I have a feeling it will be somewhere in northern Africa or the middle east. I want to work with organizations to resources to these families and to share the love of Christ with them, letting them know that they are not alone in this world and that there is a God and people who see them and care for them. I want to work to connect the churches in the United States to the people who need funds and resources to meet their spiritual and physical needs. While I am still in college and waiting to go out into the mission field in third world countries, I will continue to steward my time well and make a positive impact where I am currently living. I serve with my local church in their nursery each month, I help with community outreach through the church when I can, and I help lead a female college small group on Sunday mornings. At Toccoa Falls College, I currently serve as president of the Sportsman's Club and help connect students with resources to do the outdoor and hunting activities that they love. Recently, I was asked to be the vice president of the Student Missions Fellowship on campus, where I will help connect missionaries and interns with college students, provide opportunities for students to serve their local community through service projects, give resources for students to go on mission and on international internships, and provide a space for like-minded students to worship God and see how His people are working throughout the world to better communities and share His gospel and His love. However, while I have the dream to go and serve people across the world one day and make a positive impact, I am not in a position to be able to go out into these situations just yet. I need funds to be able to complete my college education, get connected with missions organizations, and go out onto the mission field once I graduate. I am very thankful for any scholarships I can receive that will help me chase my dreams!
