Hello,I am class of 2023 ! I am Mexican American and take great pride in my culture and history. I am hoping to attend a 4 year university one day and pursue a career in Pharmacy. My goals in life other then to earn a PhD some day are to break the cycle of not pursuing college in my family, and do things my parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents never got the chance to!As you can tell I am very passionate about my family and doing what I can to make them and myself proud.I would describe myself as a social butterfly, although it took a while to get to where I am now.I enjoy going outside and admiring the real world around me,poetry, running, and books!I’ve always been a book girl.I’m involved in many things not only because I enjoy it but because I know I’ll make memories and learn things that will last throughout my future journey through adulthood .

Cancer almost took my dad from me and since his recovery, I’ve vowed to find a career in which I can help to find a cure for cancer or at least slow its spread. I was only four but I knew that my father was sick. I was used to going to the dark grey hospital rooms every day after school to see him but even that young I knew my dad wasn’t okay he slept and slept and didn’t get to play with me like usual. Even as small as I was his fight against cancer hurt me and made me want to never see him like that again. My family has passed down many traits sadly one of them being a trait that makes us more at risk of getting cancer. Safe to say that I might also get cancer one day. However, that is what inspired me to attend university.
I want to attend a four-year university here in Texas; More specifically, The University of Texas at Austin. They have an amazing pharmaceutical program which is where I want to go for a career. I’ve known since I was a little girl that I wanted to be in healthcare. As I grew into the young adult that I am now, I’ve spent hours upon hours researching different careers in healthcare. Pharmacy intrigued me because it’s medicine, which people rely on and can survive with. I’ve taken it very seriously as I’m already in a program that will allow me to become a pharmacy technician when I graduate high school. My goal is to one day earn a Ph.D. and research medicine for cancer in which I can save little girls and their families the heartache that cancer brings.
