    McClendon Leadership Award
To me, leadership is like the conductor of an orchestra, guiding each individual instrument to create a harmonious symphony. It means stepping up and taking responsibility for not just my own actions, but also the well-being and success of those around me. I have witnessed the transformative power of leadership in my own life, and it has shaped the way I approach challenges and interactions with others. Growing up, I was often drawn to leadership roles, whether it was organizing school events, leading group projects, or taking on responsibilities within my community. However, it was not until a defining moment during my high school years that I truly understood the profound impact that leadership could have. I was part of a student-led initiative to raise funds for a local charity that supported underprivileged children's education. We faced numerous obstacles, from logistical challenges to securing sponsorships. It was during this time that I realized the true meaning of leadership. I witnessed firsthand the importance of clear communication, strategic decision-making, and inspiring others to stay motivated even in the face of adversity. As the team leader, I had to step out of my comfort zone and take charge. I motivated my team members by reminding them of the impact our efforts would have on the lives of those children. I listened to their ideas, valued their input, and created an environment where everyone felt empowered to contribute their unique strengths. Through effective delegation and collaboration, we surpassed our fundraising goals and made a significant difference in the lives of those children. This experience taught me that leadership is not about controlling or micromanaging others. It is about building relationships based on trust and respect, empowering individuals to unleash their full potential. I realized that a leader's success lies not only in their own achievements but in the growth and accomplishments of their team members. Importantly, leadership is a continuous journey of personal growth and self-awareness. I recognized the need to continually develop my own skills, to learn from my mistakes, and to seek feedback from others. I embraced opportunities for professional development, attending leadership workshops and seeking mentorship from experienced leaders. These experiences deepened my understanding of leadership and broadened my perspectives. Looking ahead, I aspire to utilize my leadership skills and passion for AI to drive positive change in the technology industry. I envision myself leading a team of diverse individuals, fostering an environment of innovation, collaboration, and inclusivity. I want to be at the forefront of AI research and development, exploring its potential to address pressing societal challenges such as healthcare, sustainability, and social equity. One technology that inspires me about the way in which technology can make the world a better place is artificial intelligence (AI). While AI has been around for decades, it has only recently begun to reach its full potential and is being used in a wide range of applications, from healthcare and education to transportation and customer service. One example of how AI is making the world a better place is in the healthcare industry. AI is being used to analyze medical records to identify patterns that could indicate the early stages of diseases, and to recommend treatments and interventions that could prevent or delay the onset of these conditions. This not only has the potential to improve patient outcomes, but also to reduce healthcare costs by identifying and addressing potential health issues before they become more serious. In addition to its use in healthcare, AI is also being used to improve efficiency and productivity in a wide range of industries. By automating tasks and processes that are time-consuming or repetitive, AI is freeing up humans to focus on more complex and creative tasks. This is leading to increased efficiency and productivity in industries ranging from manufacturing to finance, and is helping to drive economic growth and development. Overall, AI has the potential to make the world a better place by improving healthcare, education, and other essential services, and by increasing efficiency and productivity in a wide range of industries. While there are certainly valid concerns about the potential impacts of AI, I believe that its potential benefits far outweigh any potential risks, and I am excited about the future of this technology and the ways in which it will continue to make a positive impact on the world.

As a college student who experienced the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic at the beginning of my studies, I have been deeply affected by the impact of the virus on my mental health and relationships. The sudden and unprecedented disruptions to daily life, combined with the fear and uncertainty surrounding the pandemic, have made me much more anxious and prone to stress. One of the most difficult aspects of the pandemic for me has been the impact on my family. My grandmother passed away from COVID-19, and the loss has been incredibly difficult to cope with. The restrictions on gatherings and visits have made it difficult to come together and support each other during this time of grief, and the sense of isolation has been difficult to bear. The pandemic has also made the transition to college much more challenging than I had anticipated. In addition to the usual stresses of adjusting to a new environment and establishing new relationships, the pandemic has added additional layers of uncertainty and stress. The restrictions on in-person classes and social activities have made it harder to connect with my peers and build a sense of community, and the constant changes and unpredictability have been hard to navigate. In addition to the effects on my mental health and relationships, the COVID-19 pandemic has also had a significant impact on my career aspirations. The experience has made me more aware of the importance of addressing public health issues and the need for professionals who are trained to address these challenges. As a result, I have become more interested in pursuing a career in public health or healthcare. I believe that my education in biology and public health has equipped me with the knowledge and skills necessary to make a positive difference in the lives of others, and I am eager to use these skills to help address the ongoing health crisis and support those who are most vulnerable. I am also deeply concerned about the ongoing impact of the pandemic on vulnerable populations, such as low-income individuals, communities of color, and those with pre-existing health conditions. I believe that it is important to work towards creating a more just and equitable society in which all individuals have access to the resources and support they need to thrive. As I continue my studies and explore career opportunities, I am committed to using my skills and knowledge to make a positive impact on society and help address the pressing health challenges facing our world today. Whether through direct healthcare services, advocacy, or community-based efforts, I hope to play a role in creating a healthier, more equitable future for all. Overall, the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on mental health have had a significant influence on my beliefs, relationships, and career aspirations. The experience has made me more aware of the importance of addressing mental health issues and the role of social connections in maintaining well-being. It has also influenced my desire to pursue a career in a field that involves helping others and making a positive impact on society, such as healthcare or public health. I am determined to use my skills and knowledge to make a difference and help others who are facing similar challenges.

As a college student with a strong education in biology and public health, I hope to use my skills and knowledge to give back to my local community and help address the epidemic of gun violence in New York. There are several ways that I could potentially do this: Providing healthcare services to individuals affected by gun violence: As a medical professional, I could work with hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare organizations to provide medical care and support to individuals who have been injured by gun violence. This could involve providing emergency care, coordinating follow-up care, and offering emotional support to patients and their families. Advocating for policies and initiatives that reduce gun violence: I could use my education and training to advocate for policies and initiatives that aim to reduce gun violence in New York. This could involve working with community organizations and policy makers to develop and implement programs that address the root causes of gun violence, such as poverty, lack of access to education, and social determinants of health. I could use my knowledge of biology and public health to conduct research on gun violence and its impacts on communities. This could involve studying the epidemiology of gun violence, examining the long-term health consequences of gun injuries, or analyzing the effectiveness of different interventions and strategies for reducing gun violence. By generating new insights and evidence through research, I could help inform policy decisions and support the development of effective gun violence prevention programs. I could also use my education to educate others about gun violence and its impacts on public health. This could involve giving presentations at schools or community centers, participating in public health campaigns, or writing articles or blog posts on the topic. By raising awareness about the issue of gun violence and its consequences, I could help mobilize others to take action and work towards a safer, healthier community. Participating in community-based efforts to reduce gun violence: I could also get involved in local community-based efforts to reduce gun violence, such as mentorship programs, after-school programs, or initiatives to promote non-violent conflict resolution. By engaging with and supporting local community organizations, I could help create positive change and make a meaningful impact on the lives of those around me. Overall, I believe that my college education has equipped me with the skills and knowledge necessary to make a positive difference in my local community and help reduce the epidemic of gun violence in New York. I am committed to using my talents and expertise to create a safer and healthier environment for all.

Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of others. It allows us to connect with others on a deeper level and to be more understanding and compassionate towards them. This can be especially important in times of conflict or when someone is experiencing difficulties. For young people, cultivating empathy can be especially beneficial as they navigate their personal and professional lives, and it can set a foundation for positive relationships and interactions throughout their lives. For me, empathy is a quality that I value because it helps me to be a better listener and to build stronger relationships with others. It allows me to be more understanding and accepting of others, even when they have different viewpoints or experiences than my own. I find that having empathy helps me to navigate difficult situations and conflicts more effectively, as I am able to understand and consider the perspectives and feelings of others. It also helps me to be more self-aware and to recognize and regulate my own emotions, leading to healthier and more positive relationships with myself and others. Sadly, many people are afraid of showing this part of themselves because it shows vulnerability on a very intimate level. Additionally, I believe that empathy is a valuable quality to have in the broader context of society. It can play a role in promoting social justice and creating a more inclusive and compassionate community. By being able to understand and relate to the experiences and struggles of others, we can work towards creating a more equitable society for all. One important social issue that has garnered significant attention in recent years is inequality and discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and other factors. These forms of inequality and discrimination can manifest in various ways, such as unequal access to education, employment, and healthcare, as well as systemic biases and prejudices that prevent individuals from reaching their full potential. Addressing social issues often requires a multifaceted approach that involves both short-term and long-term efforts. In the short term, it may be necessary to provide immediate assistance and support to individuals and communities affected by the issue. For example, in the case of homelessness, this could involve providing temporary shelters, food, and other basic necessities. To address these issues, it is important to work towards creating a more inclusive and equitable society. This can involve efforts to dismantle systems and institutions that perpetuate inequality and discrimination, as well as advocating for policies and initiatives that promote fairness and equal opportunities for all. It may also involve education and awareness campaigns to promote understanding and acceptance of diversity, as well as individual actions to challenge biases and stereotypes. In the long term, it is important to address the root causes of social issues and work towards more sustainable and effective solutions. This may involve addressing systemic issues, such as economic and political inequalities, or addressing societal attitudes and behaviors that contribute to the problem. Another important social issue is climate change and environmental degradation. The impacts of climate change, such as rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and biodiversity loss, can disproportionately affect marginalized and vulnerable communities. To address this issue, it is important to take urgent action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adopt more sustainable practices in order to limit the severity of future impacts. This can involve individual actions, such as reducing energy consumption and using sustainable modes of transportation, as well as advocating for policies and initiatives that promote sustainability and address the root causes of climate change. There are many other important social issues that need to be addressed, and the approaches and solutions will vary depending on the specific issue and context. However, it is important to recognize that addressing social issues requires collective action and a willingness to challenge and change systems and practices that perpetuate inequality and injustice. It is important to recognize that progress may be slow and there may be setbacks along the way. However, by working together and staying committed to creating a more just and equitable society, it is possible to make meaningful progress in addressing important social issues.

As a college student, I am well aware of the burden of student loan debt and the impact it can have on my future financial well-being. That is why I am working to address my current and future student loan debt in a responsible and proactive way. One of the strategies I am using to reduce my debt burden is to apply for scholarships whenever I have the opportunity. I know that every little bit helps, and by securing scholarships to help cover the cost of my tuition and other expenses, I can reduce the amount I have to borrow. I am also careful to budget my money and spend wisely, so that I can minimize my expenses and make the most of the resources I have available. Another way I am working to address my student loan debt is by staying on top of my payments and making sure I am making my payments on time. I know that even a small delay or missed payment can have a negative impact on my credit and make it more difficult for me to borrow in the future. By being diligent about my payments, I can help to protect my credit and avoid future financial difficulties. As someone with ADHD, I understand firsthand the challenges that this condition can bring. For years, I struggled to focus and stay organized, and I often felt overwhelmed and stressed. It wasn't until I was in college that I finally got diagnosed with ADHD and began to understand the root cause of my struggles. Getting a diagnosis and starting treatment was a game-changer for me. It helped me to better understand my strengths and weaknesses, and it gave me the tools I needed to succeed in college and beyond. Unfortunately, the high cost of college can make it difficult for students like myself to afford the education we need to succeed. The ever-growing price tag associated with higher education can make it difficult for students of all backgrounds to afford a college degree, and students of color are often disproportionately affected. Rising college costs can decrease the likelihood of students of color completing their degrees without taking on high amounts of debt. While student loans can make college more accessible to low-income students, the debt that students take on can follow them for decades and can make it difficult for them to succeed in life. As someone who has struggled with ADHD and the challenges it can bring, I understand the importance of access to education and the opportunities it can provide. That is why I am committed to advocating for policies that can make college more affordable and accessible for all students, regardless of their background or circumstances. Overall, I am committed to being responsible and proactive in addressing my student loan debt. By applying for scholarships, budgeting my money wisely, and staying on top of my payments, I am working to ensure that I can graduate from college with as little debt as possible and set myself up for financial success in the future.

Facing challenges and setbacks is a natural part of life, and how we choose to respond to these challenges can have a huge impact on our future success. For me, one of the biggest challenges I have ever faced was taking on the responsibility of supporting my family financially while also trying to complete my education. When my father was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, I was just a teenager in high school. Suddenly, I found myself having to work multiple jobs to help support my family, while also trying to focus on my studies. It was a difficult and overwhelming time for me, as I was constantly tired and stressed, and there were days when I didn't think I could keep going. I knew that I had to turn it up to 11 and do everything I could to overcome this obstacle. I worked harder than ever before, pushing myself to succeed both at my jobs and in school. I stayed organized and managed my time carefully, making sure to set aside dedicated times for studying and completing assignments. Through hard work and determination, I was able to graduate from high school and enroll in college. And even though I am still in college pursuing a degree in biology, with the goal of eventually attending dental school, I am proud of the progress I have made and the strength I have gained through this experience. Being a STEM student can be challenging at the best of times, with rigorous coursework and high academic standards. But when you add in the added stress and uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, it can be even more overwhelming. As a freshman starting college during the pandemic, I remember feeling uncertain and anxious about what the future would hold. There were so many unknowns, and I found it difficult to focus on my studies with so much going on in the world around me. Despite these challenges, I knew that I had to stay focused and determined if I was going to succeed in my studies. I worked hard to stay organized and manage my time effectively, setting aside dedicated times for studying and completing assignments. I also made sure to reach out to my professors and ask for help when I needed it. Over time, I began to get the hang of things and started to feel more comfortable in my role as a STEM student. As I progressed through my college career and moved into my junior year, I began to feel more confident in my abilities and more comfortable with the demands of my coursework. Looking back on this challenging time in my life, I am grateful for the lessons it has taught me. I have learned the importance of perseverance, hard work, and never giving up, no matter how difficult the circumstances may be. These are lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life, and I am confident that they will serve me well as I continue to pursue my dreams and goals.

One song that stands out to me as having an important message is "Black or White" by Michael Jackson. This 1991 hit not only topped the charts but also spread a message of inclusion and fighting against discrimination based on race. In a world that is often divided and quick to judge others based on their appearance, "Black or White" promotes the idea that it does not matter where someone comes from, but rather how they treat others. Jackson sings about the importance of loving one another, regardless of skin tone, size, or shape. This message is especially relevant today as we continue to grapple with issues of racial inequality and discrimination. It serves as a reminder to embrace diversity and treat others with understanding and respect. Jackson's "Black or White" is a powerful and popular song that carries a message that can inspire us to come together and strive for unity in a world determined to divide us. Its message of love and acceptance is one that we can all take to heart and work towards creating a more inclusive society.

As a member of society, my daily choices have a significant impact on the environment. From the products I purchase to the energy I consume, my actions contribute to the overall health and sustainability of our planet. There are billions of people living on Earth, and we all have a responsibility to minimize our environmental impact. Unfortunately, our society relies heavily on non-renewable resources like oil and natural gas, which contribute to pollution and have negative effects on our health. In addition, our consumption habits often lead to waste and the overuse of resources, which can have serious consequences for the environment. To strive for sustainability in my daily life, I try to make environmentally-conscious choices whenever possible. This can include reducing my energy consumption by turning off lights and appliances when they are not in use, using reusable bags and containers instead of disposable ones, and purchasing products that are made from sustainable materials. As a college student, I have found that there are many opportunities to make a positive impact on the environment through my daily choices. In addition to the strategies I mentioned earlier, such as reducing energy consumption and using reusable products, there are many other ways that I strive to live sustainably as a student. One of the biggest ways that I try to live sustainably as a college student is by reducing my reliance on single-use plastics. This can include using a reusable water bottle instead of buying bottled water, using a reusable coffee cup instead of disposable ones, and bringing my own containers when dining out. These small changes can add up to make a big difference in reducing plastic waste. I also try to reduce my carbon footprint by using sustainable modes of transportation, such as biking or taking public transportation. This not only helps to protect the environment, but it can also save me money and help me to stay fit. In addition to these individual actions, I also try to get involved in sustainability efforts on campus. This can include participating in beach cleanups or joining a student group that focuses on environmental issues. By being actively involved in these efforts, I hope to make a meaningful contribution to a more sustainable future. Overall, as a college student, I am committed to making environmentally-conscious choices and taking steps to live sustainably every day. I also try to educate myself about the environmental impacts of my choices and support companies and organizations that prioritize sustainability. By doing my part to protect the planet, I hope to make a positive impact on the environment and contribute to a better future for all.
    Financial Literacy Importance Scholarship
As a college student, managing my finances has always been a top priority. I know that if I don't manage my money wisely, it can prevent me from living comfortably and achieving my goals, such as owning a car or buying a house. Since college is expensive, it is common for students to have limited disposable income. That's why I make it a point to live within my means and avoid unnecessary expenses. To manage my finances well, I have implemented a few strategies. First, I create a budget and stick to it. This helps me to track my spending and make sure I am not overspending on non-essential items. I also try to save money wherever I can, such as by cutting back on dining out or buying expensive clothing. In addition, I take advantage of student discounts and special deals whenever possible. On top of managing my day-to-day finances, I also try to plan for the future. This includes setting financial goals and working towards them, such as setting aside money for emergencies or saving for a down payment on a house. By being proactive and planning ahead, I can ensure that I am financially secure and able to achieve my long-term goals. In addition to the immediate benefits of managing my finances as a college student, I also recognize the long-term benefits of practicing good financial habits now. By learning how to budget, save money, and make smart financial decisions now, I am setting myself up for success in the future. For example, by learning how to live within my means and avoid unnecessary expenses now, I am developing good financial habits that will serve me well when I enter the workforce and have to manage a larger income. Similarly, by setting financial goals and working towards them now, I am building a solid foundation for my future financial security. Moreover, managing my finances well as a college student can also help me to avoid financial stress and burdens later on. By avoiding overspending and accumulating debt, I am positioning myself to have more financial flexibility and freedom in the future. This can allow me to pursue the career and lifestyle choices that are most important to me, rather than being restricted by financial constraints. Overall, managing my finances as a college student has been crucial in helping me to live comfortably and work towards my future goals. By budgeting, saving money, and planning ahead, I have been able to successfully navigate the financial challenges of college and set myself up for success in the future.

My experiences with mental illness have influenced my beliefs, relationships, and career aspirations in many ways. One of the biggest ways that mental health has influenced my beliefs is by teaching me the importance of self-care and self-compassion. Growing up, I struggled with negative thoughts and feelings, and it wasn't until I started seeking help and learning coping skills that I was able to break free from these destructive patterns. Now, I believe that taking care of our mental health is just as important as taking care of our physical health, and I strive to prioritize self-care in my own life. Mental health has also had a significant impact on my relationships. I have learned the importance of open and honest communication, and have come to understand that seeking help and support is a sign of strength, not weakness. I am now more empathetic and understanding towards others who are struggling, and I believe that building supportive relationships is an essential part of mental health. In the past, I have given back to my community in various ways, both big and small. One of the ways that I have done this is by volunteering at a local food bank at a church in my neighborhood. This involved sorting and organizing donated food items, helping to distribute them to those in need, and providing support and assistance to those who came to the food bank for assistance. In addition to volunteering at the local food bank, I have also given back to my community in other ways. For example, I have participated in beach cleanups and other environmental conservation efforts, and I have donated money and resources to various charitable organizations. I have also made an effort to support local businesses and to shop locally whenever possible, as I believe that this helps to strengthen and support the community. As I continue my education and move forward in life, I plan on staying involved with the local food bank and other organizations that support those in need. I also plan on exploring new ways to give back to my community, such as by volunteering with organizations that provide support to the homeless, the elderly, or those with disabilities. Science Fiction Becomes Science Fact Scholarship
The phenomenon of people within online gaming forums discarding the common accepted social norms of civil discourse and actions can have a negative effect on real-life social interaction. When people are able to hide behind the anonymity of the internet, they may feel less inhibited and more likely to engage in behavior that they would not normally engage in face-to-face interactions. This can lead to an increase in aggression, bullying, and other negative behaviors within online gaming forums, which can have a detrimental impact on the social interactions of those involved. In my own experience, I have seen the negative effects of this phenomenon in online gaming forums. I have observed people engaging in name-calling, personal attacks, and other forms of aggressive behavior, which can create a toxic and unwelcoming environment for others. This kind of behavior can be harmful not only to those who are directly targeted, but also to those who witness it, as it can make them less likely to engage in civil and respectful discourse. In addition to the negative effects on real-life social interaction, the phenomenon of people discarding common accepted social norms within online gaming forums can also have broader implications for society. When people are able to engage in aggressive and disrespectful behavior without consequences, it can normalize and even promote these behaviors in other areas of life. This can lead to an erosion of the social norms that are essential for a functioning and cohesive society, and can ultimately have a damaging impact on the well-being of individuals and communities. To address this issue, I believe that it is important for individuals to take responsibility for their own behavior, and to strive to be respectful and civil in their interactions with others. It is also important for online gaming forums and other online communities to establish and enforce rules and guidelines that promote civil discourse and respectful behavior. By working together to promote positive social norms and behaviors, we can help to create a more inclusive and supportive online environment, and ultimately a better society for all. I believe that it is important for individuals to be mindful of their behavior in online gaming forums, and to strive to maintain the common accepted social norms of civil discourse and actions. This can help to create a more positive and inclusive environment within these forums, and can promote more respectful and productive interactions with others. By being aware of the potential impact of our actions and words on others, we can help to create a more positive and supportive community within online gaming forums.

To me, perseverance means continuing to pursue a goal or take action despite obstacles or challenges that may arise. It is about being determined, resilient, and refusing to give up even when things are difficult. I have demonstrated perseverance in my own life by taking care of myself and my family since I was 15 years old. My father has been suffering from Parkinson's disease, and as a result, I have had to step up and take on various responsibilities that would normally be handled by my parents. This has included managing our household, taking care of my siblings, and even handling some of my father's medical appointments and treatments. One of the ways that my father's illness has affected me is by increasing my responsibilities and workload. As a caregiver, I have had to take on additional tasks and duties, such as managing my father's medical appointments and treatments, coordinating his care, and providing emotional support. This can be a lot to handle, especially for someone who was still a teenager. Despite the challenges that come with being a young caretaker, I have never given up or lost sight of my goals. I have continued to focus on my studies, participate in extracurricular activities, and work towards achieving my dreams. Through hard work, determination, and perseverance, I have been able to overcome many obstacles and continue to move forward. Perseverance is an important quality to have in life, as it allows us to overcome obstacles and challenges that may come our way. It is about being resilient, determined, and refusing to give up even when things are difficult. One of the most important things that perseverance teaches us is the value of hard work and determination. When we persevere, we show that we are willing to put in the effort and dedication needed to achieve our goals. This can be especially important in the face of adversity, as it allows us to continue pushing forward and making progress even when things are tough. Perseverance also teaches us resilience. By continuing to take action and pursue our goals despite challenges and setbacks, we learn to bounce back and adapt to difficult situations. This can be especially important in today's fast-paced and constantly changing world, as it allows us to adapt to new challenges and continue moving forward. Overall, perseverance is a valuable quality that can help us overcome obstacles and achieve our goals. Whether we are facing challenges in our personal lives, our careers, or our communities, perseverance allows us to keep pushing forward and continue making progress.

In my opinion, the most impactful way to combat climate change is to reduce our carbon emissions and shift to renewable energy sources. The burning of fossil fuels is a major contributor to climate change, and we need to transition away from these sources of energy if we want to have any chance of addressing this crisis. In my own life, I strive to fight climate change by making conscious choices that reduce my carbon footprint. For example, I try to use public transportation or carpool whenever possible, and I make sure to turn off lights and appliances when they are not in use. I also try to eat a plant-based diet, as animal agriculture is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. In addition to reducing my own carbon footprint, I also strive to support organizations and initiatives that are working to combat climate change. For example, I make a point to donate to environmental non-profits and organizations that are working to promote renewable energy and reduce carbon emissions. I also support politicians and policies that prioritize addressing climate change and transitioning to a sustainable future. I also try to be a role model for others when it comes to fighting climate change. I know that my actions can inspire others to make changes in their own lives, and I want to show people that it is possible to live a sustainable and environmentally-friendly life. I try to lead by example and show others that they can make a difference by making small changes in their daily routines. I also try to stay informed about the latest developments in the fight against climate change. I regularly read news articles and research studies, and I attend events and conferences that focus on this issue. I believe that staying informed is essential if we want to make progress on this issue, and I want to be a part of the conversation. Furthermore, I also make a point to educate myself and others about the importance of addressing climate change and the steps we can take to reduce our carbon emissions. I believe that knowledge is power, and I want to do my part to raise awareness about this critical issue. I care about climate change deeply because it is one of the most pressing challenges facing our planet. The effects of climate change are already being felt around the world, and we need to act now if we want to prevent even more devastating consequences in the future. I want to do my part to combat climate change and leave a better world for future generations.

    Elevate Mental Health Awareness Scholarship
Over the past year, I have grown a lot in terms of my mental health. I have been dealing with anxiety for a long time, but over the past year, I have really focused on managing my symptoms and improving my wellbeing. One of the key events that inspired this growth was a difficult time in my life when my anxiety was at its worst. I was struggling to manage my symptoms, and it was impacting my daily life. I was overwhelmed and unsure of how to move forward. In response to this situation, I decided to seek out help and to focus on my mental health. I started seeing a therapist, and I began working on strategies to manage my anxiety. This was a difficult process, and it required a lot of hard work and dedication. Over the past year, I have seen a lot of changes in myself as a result of this process. I have become more aware of my own mental health and how it affects my daily life. I have also become more compassionate and understanding of myself, and I have learned how to be kinder to myself. One of the biggest changes that I have seen in myself is that I am now more confident in my ability to manage my anxiety. I have developed a range of strategies and tools that help me to cope with my symptoms, and I feel more in control of my mental health. However, despite all of these changes, there are also some things about myself that have remained the same. I am still the same person at my core, and I still have the same values and beliefs that I have always had. I have simply learned how to better manage my mental health, and this has allowed me to be the best version of myself. Through my journey of self-discovery, I have learned a lot about myself and about mental health. I have learned that mental health is a critical component of overall wellbeing, and that it is important to prioritize it. I have also learned the value of self-compassion and self-care, and how these can help to improve mental health. Unfortunately, mental health is often not taken as seriously as it should be. Despite the fact that mental health disorders are incredibly common, affecting millions of people around the world, there is still a significant stigma surrounding mental illness. Many people view mental health problems as a sign of weakness or a personal failing, and they are often reluctant to seek help or even to admit that they are struggling. This lack of seriousness surrounding mental health can have serious consequences. For one thing, it means that many people who are suffering from mental health disorders do not get the help they need. They may be ashamed or embarrassed to seek help, or they may not even realize that they have a problem. This can lead to a range of negative outcomes, including increased anxiety, depression, and even suicide. Overall, my experience with anxiety over the past year has been challenging, but it has also been incredibly rewarding. It has taught me a lot about myself and about mental health, and it has helped me become a better person.

As someone who has suffered with depression and anxiety since the age of 12, I have come to understand the profound impact that mental health can have on every aspect of a person's life. My experiences with mental illness have also influenced my career aspirations. I am passionate about helping others and have always been drawn to careers in the helping professions. I now see mental health as an important focus area, and am determined to work towards creating a more supportive and understanding society for those who struggle with mental illness. In addition to the impact that mental health has had on my personal life, I am also passionate about applying these lessons to my community. I believe that mental health is an often-neglected aspect of overall health, and that it is important to raise awareness and reduce stigma surrounding mental illness. I have started volunteering at a local mental health clinic, where I help provide support and resources to those who are struggling. I am also active in my school's mental health advocacy group, where we work to educate our peers and create a more supportive environment for those who are struggling. I hope to continue these efforts and make a positive impact on my community in the future. In conclusion, my experiences with mental illness have had a profound impact on my beliefs, relationships, and career aspirations.

Growing up in an immigrant household in the US and being Asian and a minority can be challenging, but it can also be a unique and enriching experience. Immigrants often face obstacles such as language barriers, cultural differences, and discrimination, but they also bring valuable perspectives and contributions to their communities. Being a minority can also give individuals a sense of solidarity and the motivation to advocate for themselves and others who face similar challenges. Personal advocacy is an important way to bring about change and challenge systems of oppression. By speaking out and using their voices, individuals can raise awareness and bring attention to issues that affect their communities. Through education, activism, and coalition-building, marginalized individuals can work to create a more inclusive and equitable society. New York City is home to a diverse and vibrant Asian community, with people from a wide range of Asian countries and backgrounds. According to the latest census data, Asian Americans make up over 12% of the city's population, with the largest groups being Chinese, Indian, and Filipino. The Asian community in New York City has a long and rich history, with the first recorded Chinese immigrant arriving in the city in the early 1800s. Over the years, waves of immigrants from various Asian countries have come to the city, bringing their cultures, traditions, and cuisines with them. Today, the city's Asian community is an integral part of the city's cultural fabric, with vibrant neighborhoods such as Chinatown, Koreatown, and Little India. The Asian community in New York City faces many of the same challenges and issues as Asian communities across the country, such as discrimination, bias, and stereotypes. However, the community is also known for its resilience and determination, with many individuals and organizations working to address these issues and create a more inclusive and welcoming society. In the future, I want to make a difference in the Asian minority community in NYC by helping to empower and uplift marginalized individuals and communities. This can be achieved through various means, such as providing access to education and job opportunities, offering support and resources for mental health and well-being, and promoting inclusivity and diversity. I believe that by working together, we can create a more equitable and inclusive society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and succeed. In conclusion, living experiences and personal advocacy can be powerful tools for bringing about change and improving the lives of marginalized individuals and communities. By speaking out and standing up for themselves and others, individuals can make a difference and work towards a more just and equal world. The Asian community in New York City is a vibrant and diverse part of the city's population, with a rich history and culture. Despite facing challenges, the community continues to thrive and make valuable contributions to the city.

The loss of my grandmother and grandfather in the same year has been a difficult and heartbreaking experience for me. They were both an integral part of my life, and I have many fond memories of the time I spent with them when I was growing up. They moved back to Bangladesh after I turned 14, but we kept in touch and I always looked forward to their visits. When I heard the news of their passing, it hit me hard. I felt a sense of loss and grief that was overwhelming. It was difficult to come to terms with the fact that they were gone and that I would never see them again again. In the aftermath of their passing, I have found myself reflecting on what matters most in my life and what I want to "fight" for. I have come to realize that the most important things to me are my relationships with the people I love. I want to cherish and nurture these relationships, and make sure that I am always there for the people who matter most to me. I have also come to understand the importance of living in the present and making the most of every moment. The loss of my grandparents has made me realize that life is precious and fleeting, and that we never know when our time will be up. It has motivated me to focus on the things that truly matter to me, and to work towards achieving my goals and dreams. In many ways, the loss of my grandparents has been a wake-up call for me. It has made me realize the value of the people I love, and has spurred me on to focus on the things that truly matter in my life. One of my academic goals is to continue my education and earn a graduate degree in my field. I am particularly interested in pursuing dental school or something in medicine, as I believe that this would provide me with the knowledge and skills I need to make a positive impact in the world. In terms of professional goals, I would like to work for a nonprofit organization that is focused on improving the health and wellbeing of underserved communities. I believe that this would be a meaningful and rewarding career, and would allow me to make a real difference in the world. In terms of giving back to my community, I have volunteered with a number of organizations over the years. For example, I have worked with a local food bank to help provide food to those in need, and I have also volunteered at a local homeless shelter. These experiences have been incredibly rewarding, and have inspired me to continue working to make a difference in the world. Overall, my academic and professional goals are focused on making a positive impact in the world. Through my education and career, I hope to help improve the health and wellbeing of underserved communities, and to make a meaningful difference in the world. In the future, I would like to focus on helping minorities in my community. As a member of a minority group myself, I understand the challenges and barriers that many of these individuals face, and I believe that it is important to work to address these issues. One way that I would like to help minorities in my community is by advocating for policies and programs that support and empower these individuals. This could include advocating for policies that address issues such as income inequality, discrimination, and access to education and healthcare. In addition, I would also like to work directly with minority communities in my area. This could involve volunteering with organizations that provide support and services to these individuals, or working with community leaders and activists to identify and address the specific needs and challenges facing these communities. Having a voice in a community means being able to express yourself and have your opinions heard within that particular group. It is an important part of being a member of a community and participating in its discussions and decision-making processes. Without a voice, individuals in a community may feel like they are not being listened to and their ideas and perspectives may not be considered. Having a voice allows individuals to share their thoughts and contribute to the collective decision-making of the community. It also helps to create a sense of inclusiveness and equality within the community, as all members are given the opportunity to have their voices heard.

I believe it is important that we work to better understand the nature of our universe for a number of reasons. First and foremost, understanding the universe allows us to gain insights into our place in the world and our relationship to the universe as a whole. This can provide us with a sense of perspective and help us to better understand our own existence. In addition, a better understanding of the universe can also help us to answer some of the most fundamental questions about the world around us. For example, what is the nature of time? What is the origin of the universe? How did life arise on Earth? By answering these questions, we can gain a deeper understanding of the world and our place in it. Furthermore, a better understanding of the universe can also have practical applications. For example, knowledge of astrophysics and other related fields can be used to develop new technologies, such as more advanced telescopes and satellites, which can be used to study the universe and improve our understanding of it. In order to better understand the nature of our universe, I hope to employ a variety of ideas and concepts from a range of disciplines, including physics, astronomy, and mathematics. By using these tools, I hope to gain a deeper understanding of the universe and its many mysteries. One of the key concepts that I hope to employ in my efforts to better understand the nature of our universe is the scientific method. This involves making observations, forming hypotheses, conducting experiments, and collecting data in order to test those hypotheses and gain new insights. By using this approach, we can gain a more objective and empirical understanding of the universe and its many phenomena. I also hope to utilize the latest technologies and tools, such as advanced telescopes and satellites, in order to study the universe and gather data about its various components and processes. By using these tools, we can observe the universe in unprecedented detail and gain new insights into its nature. Another important concept that I hope to employ is the idea of collaboration and interdisciplinary research. By working with others from a variety of different fields, we can combine our expertise and knowledge to tackle some of the biggest questions and challenges facing us as we seek to better understand the universe. Overall, I believe that it is important that we continue to work to better understand the nature of our universe. By using a variety of ideas and concepts, and by collaborating with others, I am confident that we can continue to make progress and gain new insights into this fascinating and complex subject.
