I am getting into sales and marketing because it gives me an opportunity to do something bigger than myself, gives me the capability to interact with a wide range of people, and hopefully improve the lives of the people I interact with. I come from a low-income household, and because of this, I really had to market myself from a young age in order to get odd jobs to help support myself. I was able to market myself on social media and get many babysitting and housekeeping jobs in my area until I was old enough to obtain a steady full-time job. While that experience was difficult, I learned that I had skills in marketing, especially on social media. This realization fueled me to want to pursue marketing as a career in adulthood. I love people, and I love to make a positive impact on the people around me, even if that impact is small. Marketing is a career field that allows you to interact with many people on a daily basis and gives you the opportunity to improve someone's day. I also believe that marketing is a career field that has much room for personal growth and improvement, as it gives you the skills to perform well in many different areas of work. In my opinion marketing and sales careers really are what you make of it. If you work hard and put in effort and hustle you will have the ability to thrive and succeed, and I really believe that given the opportunity I would work hard and hopefully be extremely successful. While I believe a career in marketing will be meaningful to my life, and hopefully be something I thrive at, I am also pursuing marketing to inspire my sisters and give them hope. I have 3 younger sisters, none of whom are college-aged quite yet. I believe that if I am able to pursue my education and preferred job field, it will provide hope and inspiration to my sisters that they too can achieve their dreams and pursue their passions. I hope that by achieving my dreams I am able to pave the way for my sisters to follow their dreams much easier than I have been able to do. In addition, if I am successful in my career in marketing it would also give me the resources to help my sisters financially to pursue their goals. Overall, my interest to pursue this career field is in the hope to be able to support my sisters; and to build a life for myself and my future children that is easier upbringing than I had.
