Bio

Hello! I'm Abby Bruns, a senior at Tomball High School. This fall, I'll be going to the University of Texas at Austin to major in political science. I am drawn to political science because it will equip me with the tools to contribute to positive change. Politics impacts everyone's daily life, and I wish to pursue an education in this field for this very reason. What interests me most about political science is its interdisciplinary nature. It's not just about laws and governance but also about sociology, economics, and history—all interconnected to provide an understanding of how societies function. With this in mind, I am considering the possibility of a double major or a minor in economics, which I believe will enhance my ability to approach political issues from diverse perspectives and broaden my skill set. Throughout high school, I have demonstrated a commitment to academic excellence, maintaining a 4.3 unweighted GPA while taking AP and dual credit classes. In tandem with my studies, I've played the cello since 6th grade, and have been in my school's Chamber Orchestra for the past 3 years. This year, I was honored to be elected as the Vice President of the orchestra, allowing me to contribute not only as a musician but also as a leader within our community. Music is one of my favorite things and in university, I hope to continue to play the cello! Thank you for taking the time to learn a bit about me! Your support will undoubtedly play a crucial role in shaping my academic and personal journey.
