Hello, I am a Filipino American undergraduate student attending California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. I perceive myself as an individual who has faced countless adversities, yet stayed resilient until the end. From a young age, I gained resentment from my peers due to my nature as a bully who earned the lowest grades in class. However, during one summer day, my newfound passion for reading helped me reinvent myself by prioritizing my studies. Eventually, I ranked as one of the top students at my school, with my grit persuading me to pursue a medical profession. Although I suffer from heart arrhythmia and astigmatism, these obstacles invigorate my diligence outside of the classroom through fitness and volunteering. I aspire to become a clinical laboratory scientist like my late father. Also, I hope to assist the nation in adopting a new health framework to minimize the high costs of medical practices. Due to the passing of my late father and the COVID-19 pandemic, I realized that the nation's health sector is ineffective with its diagnosis and treatment of certain diseases. Because of this, advancements in medical technology can help to sustain further losses affecting our quality of life. Despite living off of survivor benefits, this predicament will not dissuade me from achieving the pinnacle of patient care through innovative procedures. Overall, I hope to increase the provision of access to healthcare among the general populace. I am confident that my continued strive for reform will be essential in revolutionizing the U.S.'s healthcare system.
