Hi! My name is Jared Alejo, I am 19 years old and I am from New Jersey. I come from a solid customer service and academic background with a strong interest towards working in the aviation industry as an Airline Captain in the near future.
The Pandemic added financial instability since my father’s job suffered a major setback due to his injury, but my parents constant work ethic has inspired me to keep working and never give up in my dreams of working in the aviation industry.
Along with being a full time student/high school graduate, I was my high school's newspaper club President since 2020 until I graduated in 2022. I also attended a college campus dual enrollment program for college credits as I was working at an international airport, therefore, time management skills have always been crucial to me and I have always been eager to take upon and conquer new challenges/experiences.
I love waking up each morning with the ability to make a positive impact on other people by giving each passenger encounter my all. I am most passionate in helping people in and out of my community whether that's completing volunteer work at a local event/fair, or staying a couple of extra hours to re-accommodate people at work.
I am a great candidate for a scholarship because with my hard-work ethic, I will be able to devote more time into my studies or building flight time, rather than devoting so much time working overtime, which in return will assist me greatly into obtaining my four year degree, along with my pilots' certificates and 1500 hours earlier than expected.

Hello, my name is Jared Alejo, and I am from New Jersey. I am an associate of Aviation Flight Technology degree candidate at Mercer County Community College, specializing in Applied Science in Aviation and Aviation Management. From being a people-oriented person to the adrenaline I felt the moment I stepped on an airplane for the first time at a very young age, I immediately knew that one day in the future I would love to become a Commercial Pilot and make a difference for the travel industry, which makes up a generous population.
As a recent high school graduate, I was my high school's newspaper club President from 2020 until I graduated in 2022. This position taught me a substantial amount of responsibility, organization, and leadership qualities as a class officer. I coordinated weekly meetings with my club members, and participated in numerous school fundraisers and events to give back to my school and community. Meanwhile, I attended a college campus dual enrollment program for aviation college credits before being enrolled as a current full-time student, at the same time, working full-time at an international airport overnight when I did not have class. Therefore, time management skills have always been crucial to me and I have always been eager to take upon and conquer new challenges/experiences with any free time I have.
I believe my academic background, airline business knowledge, and industry experiences have provided me with the credentials needed to thrive as an airline pilot. As a current Customer Service Agent for Frontier Airlines, it is my responsibility to open/operate check-in, mitigate stressful oversold, customer satisfaction and weight and balance scenarios, verify passenger eligibility/documents, and work as a team with the flight crew, cabin crew, and ground crew to ensure an on-time departure every flight in all areas of our ground operations such as the ticket counter, bag drop off, airport operations, and the gate area. In doing so, I have gained a unique insider experience of what working in the aviation industry is like at such a young age, by constantly interacting with Pilots to give them their paperwork, exchange vital flight information and overall being responsible for large Airbus aircraft. Just last month, I was recognized for my hard work and professionalism by my management team and selected to individually represent my airline for an important meeting with the Department of Transportation and Secretary Pete. Working for an airline while being in high school and college has been no easy task, but the constant dedication, the desire of doing what I love and the work environment of always being surrounded by airplanes has made me fall in love with the aviation industry, in return making me want to pursue a degree in Aviation Flight Technology to become an Airline pilot increasingly more, without a doubt.
Prior to working as a Frontier Airlines Customer Service Agent, I worked as a Food Host and Rides Operator at Six Flags Great Adventure where I was responsible for the safety and efficiency of all of our guests, demonstrating leadership in a physically demanding Lead position while diffusing high-stress scenarios in large crowds, operating roller coasters, especially when the park would reach a maximum capacity of over 55,000 people. Overall, these different experiences have equipped me with the confidence to approach new challenges and experiences, such as starting my flight training and flying solo for the first time at 18 years old.

I believe my academic background, airline environmental business knowledge, and industry experiences have provided me with the credentials needed to thrive as an airline pilot. As a current Customer Service Agent for America's Greenest Airline (Frontier Airlines), it is my responsibility to open/operate check-in, handle different scenarios, and promote the efficiency of Frontier Airlines' mission of saving fuel. I have learned the importance of decreasing carbon emissions and making air travel not only more affordable but more environmentally friendly overall. Every day, I work as a team with the flight crew, to ensure an on-time departure every flight in all areas of our ground operations. I am responsible for cleaning the aircraft, so In doing so, I have gained a unique insider experience of what working in the aviation industry is like, the importance of proper waste management, fuel conservation and pollution mitigation in an aircraft setting. Just last month, I was recognized for my hard work and professionalism by my management team and selected to individually represent my airline for an important meeting with the Department of Transportation and Secretary Pete about our efforts of being America's Greenest Airline. Working for an airline while being in high school and college has been no easy task, but the constant dedication, the desire of doing what I love and the work environment of always being surrounded by airplanes has made me fall in love with the aviation industry, in return making me want to pursue a degree in Aviation Flight Technology to become an Airline pilot increasingly more and be apart of the 1% of the world's population to fly people around, without a doubt.
Before working as a Customer Service Agent, I worked as a Six Flags Team Member where I was responsible for the safety and sanitation of all of our guests. This involved waste reduction, cleaning around the park, preparing orders, and demonstrating leadership in a physically demanding Lead position. The waste management portion has taught me the extreme importance of not being wasteful, and the importance of recycling at the end of every shift which has reflected upon me as an individual. Overall, I hope to use these skills I've acquired over the years to make a difference in my community.
