Since their founding, Historically Black Colleges and Universities across the United States have battled the issue of systemic racism head-on. By providing black and other disadvantaged students with a safe, relatable, and culturally harmonized environment to continue their education, HBCUs are the spearhead of social justice in education for the future.

We, the McLaurin Family, are heavy supporters of the contributions made by HBCUs across the nation and would like to help provide opportunities for students attending one of these institutions.

In honor of our mother Wanda, the Wanda I. McLaurin HBCU Scholarship will support ambitious students from Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, or surrounding areas in New York who currently attend an HBCU. This annual scholarship will support one student who fits the criteria and who wants to dedicate their studies to advance their own career as well as the livelihoods of disadvantaged people across the country.

To apply, please tell us why you decided to attend an HBCU, what your career aspirations are, and why you are interested in the things you are.
