Literacy and writing skills are incredibly important, especially in a world becoming increasingly dependent on generative AI.
Strong writing skills and the ability to tell compelling stories are invaluable, regardless of a student’s intended field of study. The powers to understand nuance, effectively communicate, and be imaginative are critical and are part of what makes the world entertaining and thought-provoking.
This scholarship aims to support talented young writers who are deeply passionate about creative writing and literacy.
Any high school senior in Michigan who plans to attend a two or four-year college may apply for this scholarship opportunity if they have at least a 3.0 GPA and if they’re pursuing a writing-related field (creative writing, English, journalism, playwriting, screenwriting, communications, marketing etc.). However, applicants attending Lincoln High School in Ypsilanti are preferred.
To apply, tell us about an experience or observation that has inspired you and your writing.
The Vu Tous means “Seen All” in French and was inspired by the classic movie line, “If you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all” from Singing in the Rain. In life, it often seems like nothing is new under the sun, yet creativity and inspiration often blossom from seemingly mundane or repetitive experiences.
Reflect on a specific experience or observation from your life—no matter how small or ordinary. Describe how this moment has inspired or continues to inspire your creative writing.

The winner will be publicly announced on Aug 31, 2027. Prior to the announcement date, we may contact finalists with additional questions about their application. We will work with donors to review all applications according to the scholarship criteria. Winners will be chosen based on the merit of their application.
Award checks will be sent to the financial aid office of the winner's academic institution or future academic institution in their name to be applied to their tuition, and in the name of their institution (depending on the school's requirements). If the award is for a qualified educational non-tuition expense, we will work with the winner directly to distribute the award and make sure it goes towards qualified expenses.
Before we award the scholarship, the winner will be required to confirm their academic enrollment status. Depending on the circumstances, verification of Student ID and/or their most recent transcript will be required.
