When it was time for me to start thinking of college, going to a HBCU was my passion. I have always wanted to be around my peers that look like me, watching each other prove educational growth among us. Many African Americans have less opportunities than others. I have chosen to further my education because individuals within my family have not had the best opportunities, two, I have worked so hard during my grade school years. An honor student, always keeping my grades up. I like to think that I am smart. Why waste all my hard work by not furthering my education? I currently have a 3.6 GPA but im pushing to get a 4.0 before i graduate high school this coming June of 2023. My third reason is because I see how many families struggle, including my own due to lack of knowledge or not getting a good job. I would like to become a physical therapist so of course I need more than just a high school diploma. This scholarship means alot. I have been working really hard to obtain several scholarships to help me attend and finish my college journey. I have been accepted into several universities such as Lincoln, Norfolk, Penn State, Kutztown, Shippensburg, Arcadia, Clark Atlanta and West Chester. Being granted with a scholarship will help take the burden off of my family. When I go off to college I still have siblings that are left back home that my mother has to care for. This scholarship would help towards anything allowed such as tuition, books, housing and or food to survive. This scholarship will play a role in my career goals because it would give me the opportunity to get closer to my overall goal of graduating with my health science degree so that I am able to continue to be a great citizen of my community by helping others. I one day hope that I am fortunate enough to give back to a young teen looking to further their education. Getting into a good school is alot of hard work to find out in the end that you may not be able to attend due to financial reasons. Especially in low income homes like myself and family. I just want genuine support to help me succeed. I have a few months left to plead my reasoning, stories and goals to make life on campus just a little easier. I want to focus on my education without worrying if I'll make it to class the next day because of money. I know my mom will try and take out a loan but I really want to help her lower her payments by offering a helping hand by applying for scholarships. Thank you so much for this opportunity.
