Sometimes one caring person can change the course of a life. For people with special needs and their families, that person might be a teacher who adapts a lesson, a therapist who helps a child reach a new milestone, or a social worker who helps a family find the support they need.
Yet many people with special needs still face underfunded schools, shortages of trained professionals, and communities that weren’t built with them in mind. Students entering these fields can be the steady, encouraging presence that helps someone thrive.
Special Needs Advocacy Inc. is a 501(c)(3) that provides trust administration and financial services to help individuals with special needs and their families enhance their quality of life.
The Special Needs Advocacy Inc. George Taylor Memorial Scholarship honors the memory of George Taylor, who made a meaningful difference in the life of the organization’s founder when he was young, by supporting students who plan to make that same kind of difference for others.
Any undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a career working with people with special needs (special education, occupational or physical therapy, speech pathology, social work, early intervention, etc.) may apply for this scholarship opportunity.
To apply, tell us about someone who made a difference in your life and how you plan to make a difference for people with special needs through your career.
Tell us about someone who made a meaningful difference in your life. How did their support shape who you are, and how do you plan to make that same kind of difference for people with special needs through your career?

The winner will be publicly announced on Apr 29, 2027. Prior to the announcement date, we may contact finalists with additional questions about their application. We will work with donors to review all applications according to the scholarship criteria. Winners will be chosen based on the merit of their application.
Award checks will be sent to the financial aid office of the winner's academic institution in their name to be applied to their tuition, and in the name of their institution (depending on the school's requirements). If the award is for a qualified educational non-tuition expense, we will work with the winner directly to distribute the award and make sure it goes towards qualified expenses.
Before we award the scholarship, the winner will be required to confirm their academic enrollment status. Depending on the circumstances, verification of Student ID and/or their most recent transcript will be required.
