Shaunterrio "Shaun" Hudson was an amazing person, a fierce friend, and a kind soul who touched the lives of everyone around him. A graduate of Grady Health System School of Radiologic Technologies, Shaun went on to build a dedicated career as a NeuroInterventional Radiology technologist at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta — the very institution where he was trained. He was a critical member of the stroke team, standing alongside doctors during life-saving procedures with steadiness, skill, and grace.
To those who knew him best, Shaun was welcoming, full of life, and someone who made people feel at ease the moment they met him. That warmth didn't stop at the hospital doors — it was simply who he was.
Shaun's story is a reminder that healthcare is not simply a career path — it is a calling. Every person in a clinical setting is someone's whole world. The most powerful thing a healthcare professional can bring is the willingness to show up fully, with both skill and humanity.
This scholarship seeks to honor the memory of Shaunterrio Hudson by supporting underserved populations who share his passion for medicine.
Any U.S. based undergraduate student currently enrolled in an accredited healthcare, nursing, radiology, or medical technology program may apply for this scholarship opportunity if they have demonstrated financial need, a minimum 2.8 cumulative GPA, and identify as a member of a minority or underserved community. Recipients will be selected based on:
Commitment to a career in healthcare or medical service
Demonstrated compassion and community involvement
Personal essay reflecting Shaun’s values
To apply, think about a moment where you showed up for someone in a meaningful way. It doesn't have to be dramatic — sometimes the most profound acts of care are quiet ones. Consider a time with a patient, a family member, a stranger, or a peer when your presence made a difference. What did that moment ask of you? What did it reveal?
Use Shaun's legacy as a lens. Reflect on how your own moment of showing up connects to the kind of healthcare professional you are working to become.
Additionally, upload a photo of yourself and the close family members or friends for whom you are doing everything.
