Ricky Noles was a beloved father who worked hard his whole life and was proud of his children, their values, and their accomplishments.

Ricky was also a firm believer in Christianity and held a position at his church. He graduated college with a degree in automotive mechanics. Beyond his interest in automotive mechanics, he also owned a pulp wood business. He had three daughters graduate nursing school, and had one daughter become a teacher. His son followed in his footsteps and graduated with a degree in automotive mechanics and owns his own business.

This scholarship seeks to honor the life of Ricky Noles by supporting students who share the passions of him and his family.

Any high school senior in Alabama who is Christian and pursuing a degree in automotive mechanics, nursing, foresty or teaching may apply for this scholarship opportunity. However, applicants in Randolph County and/or those planning to attend Southern Union State Community College or Jacksonville State University are preferred.

To apply, tell us about yourself, how this scholarship will help you, what your academic and career goals are, and if you’re involved in your church. Please also submit your resume and at least one letter of recommendation.

My name is Krislyn Stewart. I am currently a senior at Wadley High School, and I will be attending Southern Union State Community College beginning this summer. I am majoring in Nursing and I am focused on becoming a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. I have always had a desire to help people, especially when it comes to their health. By being a CRNA, I would bring comfort to people during hard times such as giving birth or going under surgical procedures. I am very excited to begin this chapter of my life and I would like to tell you my academic and career goals that will hopefully be achieved in 10 years. My goals are to attend Southern Union's nursing program, while being enrolled at Auburn University as well. Once I am finished with Southern Union's nursing, I will finish my last semester at Auburn University and graduate with my Bachelors of Science in Nursing. This program is one of Southern Union's concurrent programs, which help students such as me finish school quickly but properly. Once I obtain my BSN, I plan to begin working as a Registered Nurse in the ICU for three to four years. While working as a RN I want to return to Auburn University and gain my Masters Degree. After I am finished working as a RN, I will attend the University of Alabama in Birmingham to obtain two degrees: Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice degree and Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. Once I have secured both degrees, I plan to begin working as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. If I am confident in my work as a CRNA, I would even consider going back to school once more and earning my degree to become an Anesthesiologist. While this plan will set me up for success, it will be very time consuming and quite expensive due to the many years of four year education I will receive. This scholarship will aid in buying class materials such as my books, and it can even take the price off of a class I may take over the summer or this fall. I enjoy helping in my community, and when our local churches have events and fundraisers I want to volunteer my work. For example, one of our churches in the Town of Wadley has an annual Pancake Breakfast, which is one of my favorite things to help with. I am able to serve food to the public while also giving my labor and serving the Lord. I am also planning to attend Church of the Highlands in Auburn starting this fall. My sister is currently a server for the church and helps with the daycare portion, which gives adults the opportunity to really focus on the message given by the Lord that Sunday. I would love to be a server as well and give people the extra boost of motivation and confidence to serve the Lord loudly. It would be such an Honor to receive this scholarship, and I thank you for considering me as a candidate for acceptance.
