“Why would you want to go into a beauty school”? That seems to be the underlying question everyone has been asking me. Cosmetology has always been an important aspect of my life. Seeing as how I grew up with 3 sisters; doing hair, nails, make up, and facials have always been apart of our weekly/biweekly routine. Being surrounded by predominantly females for the entirety of my life has given me countless opportunities to grow and learn as an aspiring cosmetologist. However, that is not solely my reasoning for applying and pushing towards this career. The arts of cosmetics have always been one of my numerous strengths and honestly, one of the only ways I have been able to escape the torment and pain of my reality. Throughout my years of growing up I decided to take the skills I already have; and shift them towards a career path that genuinely interests and benefits me in the long run. The beauty industry can be both an exhilarating and horrifying experience. In one perspective, there is the idea that you are finally able to put work into something that you know and love. Yet in the next perspective, there is also the fact that these courses are predominantly working women; That alone should give you an idea of the fellow hardworking and determined women there are. With determination generally comes competition, and competition is something women are blindly susceptible to; seeing as how all we do is try to be the prettiest, or the smartest, there is always competition. I personally plan on making the most positive impact on said women possible, by being a positive influence and helping as many others as I physically can.

Hey! I’m 20 years old, living in Houston, Texas, with my dog Roxy. Ever since I was little, I’ve had a love for all things cosmetic, especially hair. Growing up, I was lucky enough to have my great grandma Beverly as a role model. She worked in her own barber shop and even owned a hair and nail salon next door. Watching her balance both businesses and make people feel beautiful inspired me to pursue a career in the beauty industry. For me, being a stylist is about more than just hair—it’s about making people feel confident and beautiful, inside and out. I want to create a positive, uplifting space where clients can leave feeling like their best selves. I know the impact that a great stylist can have, and I want to be that person for others, helping them feel empowered with every cut and color. This industry is my passion, and I’m excited to keep learning and growing, so I can bring joy and confidence to as many people as I can.
