Patricia Lee Wilson was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, niece, godparent and a longtime social worker who contributed so much to her community before her passing.

Patricia had mentored many young people, family and future social workers. Her primary focus was on students who were in Master of Social Work programs, helping the next generation follow in her footsteps. She served as a world-class clinical social worker for over forty years in education, criminal justice, and healthcare settings. Patricia was an active voice for underrepresented communities and youth to ensure they received the resources they needed to overcome systemic struggles. Her mission was to always stand up for what is right and become the voice for those who were less fortunate and underrepresented due to the nature of their lesser social status in society.

This scholarship seeks to honor the legacy of Patricia Lee Wilson by supporting students who share her commitment to uplift underrepresented citizens, support for human and community service, and commitment to the field of social work.

Any high school senior, undergraduate, or graduate student who is part of an underrepresented community may apply for this scholarship opportunity if they are pursuing social work and if they have community service experience and work or internship experience in institutes or programs that serve underrepresented communities.

To apply, tell us about yourself, how you hope to make a difference as a social worker, what motivates you to work with underserved communities, and what responsibilities you feel towards helping people overcome systemic barriers. Please also provide at least one letter of recommendation from any non-profit, human service agency, or any establishment that demonstrates your passion to work for the community.
