In 10 years, I envision myself as a successful engineer, making a positive impact in my community, and becoming the first person in my family to graduate from college. Although I'm a 17-year-old rising senior with an uncertain future, I have dreams of making a difference! Therefore my dream is to pursue a career in engineering and use my skills to create a better world for future generations. Growing up, in a household with seven children, my parents sacrificed just about every penny they had on us children. Even though my stepdad worked for a middle-class salary, my mom was forced to leave her dream job due to her fight against polycystic kidney disease. With so many people to provide for it caused limited opportunities for me and my siblings due to lack of substantial income. My parents never really had the opportunity to attend college because of financial struggles forcing them to immediately enter the workforce. I am determined to break that cycle and be the first person in my family to graduate from college. This goal is not only important to me but also to my family who has sacrificed every bit of their time for me, ensuring a better future that they weren't fortunate enough to obtain. To even think about achieving a major in engineering gives me goosebumps. Engineering is a field that embodies everything I condone. The creativity, innovative skills, and opportunity to allow me to solve problems with my colleagues in our community is what sticks out to me the most and I believe that this perfect makeup allows me to be the best person I can be. Engineering presents so many ways to contribute to the community, whether it be through developing more advanced technologies, improving infrastructures, or addressing local issues. I am passionate about using engineering to create positive change. To achieve my maximum potential I must work diligently to fulfill my vision for my future in engineering. I know that remaining focused is crucial to achieving my ambitions. Pursuing a degree in engineering will require a sense of dedication, perseverance, and a genuine commitment. Thankfully I believe that I am prepared to face these challenges, allowing me to push myself to reach new heights in my career. I am stoked to see what the future holds. I believe that there's no challenge too big to tackle. While I've had many tell me that majoring in engineering could be too challenging and demanding, I am highly confident in my abilities allowing me to move past such a common belief. Through my eagerness to strive for excellence not only can I achieve my goals but help those around me do the same.
