The majority of students who come from communities of color and/or are low-to-moderate income often times are not given the same resources and opportunities that others are afforded. As a result, this discourages and drives talented and passionate youth away from ever pursuing a higher education to break generational poverty and ultimately their dreams.

Additionally, language barriers, fears of deportation, limited job opportunities, responsibility of supporting family members, and being the first to pave a path in higher education are all obstacles that immigrants face. This is outside of other trials and stigmas that often serve as barriers in breaking generational cycles Education is a key component to helping youth develop financial responsibility, leadership, teamwork, and long-term economic stability helping their families and communities and improve their overall well-being.

This scholarship aims to serve and support students who have demonstrated the ability to overcome adversity and fight for their success.

Any Latinx high school senior student from the state of Washington who has a history of overcoming adversity may apply. Preference for those who do not qualify for federal loans/grants/ DACA. Students pursuing a 2- or 4-year undergraduate degree or planning to attend a trade school may apply.
