C. Jack Pearce was an attorney, entrepreneur, author, and public servant whose career reflected a strong commitment to economic opportunity, fairness, and service to others. After serving in several federal government roles, he entered private practice and founded OSI Offices in Washington, D.C.
The OSI Future Lawyers Scholarship honors his legacy by supporting the next generation of lawyers as they pursue their education and prepare to use their careers to serve individuals, businesses, and their communities.
This scholarship is open to students currently enrolled in an accredited law program in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area who demonstrate a commitment to service, professional integrity, and strengthening their communities.
The Pearce family believes that a meaningful career is not defined only by professional success, but by the difference we make in the lives of others. To apply, submit an essay describing the experiences that inspired you to pursue law and how you plan to use your legal education to serve your community. Identify a barrier that people in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area face when seeking legal help, and propose a realistic way to address it.
What experience, person, or challenge shaped your decision to pursue law—and what did it teach you about the kind of lawyer you hope to become?
Identify a barrier that prevents individuals, small businesses, or underserved communities in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area from obtaining effective legal help. Drawing on something you have observed, experienced, or studied, explain why that barrier matters and how you hope to help address it.
Be specific about the people you want to serve, the contribution you could realistically make, and what meaningful progress would look like for those receiving your help.
