Students who cross borders and continents to pursue education bring more than ambition. They carry perspective, resilience, and a desire to shape a better future across cultures.
This Ndombe-Carrère International Scholarship celebrates international students who are boldly building their lives in the United States, navigating a new system while staying rooted in who they are. Whether you’re finding your voice in a new language, balancing multiple worlds, or using your unique lens to lead, create, or connect, your story matters.
We’re looking to support international undergraduate students currently studying in the U.S. at Cal Poly Humboldt (School must be listed on profile as "Humboldt State University"). Students should embody curiosity, determination, and a spirit of possibility. You don’t need perfect grades or a fixed career path, but we’d like to understand your academic journey so far, what you’re studying, how it’s going (including grades), and where you hope it might lead.
To apply, we strongly prefer a 2–4-minute video so we can hear from you directly. But if you’re unable to record a video, you may submit a written essay instead. In either format, help us get to know you: What have you overcome? What are you proud of? What do you hope to build?
If submitting a video, provide a YouTube link or a Google Drive link (make sure sharing settings allow anyone with the link to view). Write “Submitted via video link” in the essay box.
Tell us your story in your own voice and your own way.
The application deadline is Aug 14, 2027. Winners will be announced on Sep 15, 2027.
Your privacy is a top priority on the Bold.org platform, and you can find our privacy policy in full here. You may opt out of communications from Bold.org at any time, and unless we’ve first notified you and gotten your consent, you’ll never receive communication from any third parties related to personal information you give us.
Award amounts per winner are designated by the donor. Check the award amount for a detailed breakdown.
The winner will be publicly announced on Sep 15, 2027. Prior to the announcement date, we may contact finalists with additional questions about their application. We will work with donors to review all applications according to the scholarship criteria. Winners will be chosen based on the merit of their application.
Award checks will be sent to the financial aid office of the winner's academic institution in their name to be applied to their tuition, and in the name of their institution (depending on the school's requirements). If the award is for a qualified educational non-tuition expense, we will work with the winner directly to distribute the award and make sure it goes towards qualified expenses.
Before we award the scholarship, the winner will be required to confirm their academic enrollment status. Depending on the circumstances, verification of Student ID and/or their most recent transcript will be required.
