Melendez for Nurses Scholarship
College is hard enough, but being a primary caregiver while being a full-time student is an amazing triumph and a significant responsibility that not many peers share.
It takes great sacrifice and selflessness to serve as a caretaker, especially during school. College often brings with it many social gatherings, career opportunities, and extracurricular offerings that many students take advantage of. Students with familial obligations often have to forego many of the social elements of school and have to carefully manage their time to fulfill their academic obligations while being a reliable source of care for their family.
This scholarship seeks to support students who are devoted to their studies while taking the time to care for members of their families.
Any undergraduate or graduate student who is pursuing nursing may apply for this scholarship opportunity if they have a family member with disabilities and if they assist in their caretaking. However, low-income applicants are preferred.
To apply, tell us how having a family member with disabilities has impacted you and how it has influenced your journey in nursing.
