Made for More Educational Scholarship: A Truly Wicked, Inc. (TWSC) Initiative
Trying to pursue higher education can be overwhelming due to the exorbitant costs, even when a student’s motivation and ability are strong.
Every year, countless students who have all the drive and talent necessary to succeed are hindered by their financial circumstances, which can often be difficult to overcome without outside assistance. Students from disadvantaged backgrounds and those with little access to family resources are particularly likely to struggle to pay for college.
This scholarship seeks to ease the financial barriers that often limit educational opportunities by supporting students working to build stability, independence, and a better future through education.
Any Oakland or Bay Area high school senior or recent graduate who will be a first-generation college student may apply for this scholarship opportunity. However, students who have experienced housing insecurity or homelessness, foster youth (especially those aging out of the system), those formerly involved in the juvenile justice system, underrepresented minorities, applicants with community service or volunteering experience, those with financial need, and students who plan to enroll in a four-year college or trade school program are preferred.
To apply, tell us about the future you’re working toward, what brings you a sense of purpose or pride, how your community has impacted your dreams, and how this scholarship would help you on your next steps.
Tell us about the future you are working toward. What brings you a sense of purpose, joy, or pride as you think about your education, career, or life goals?
You may briefly acknowledge challenges you have faced, but we are most interested in how you imagine your future and what motivates you to keep moving forward. As an Oakland or Bay Area student, feel free to reflect on how your community or lived experiences have shaped your dreams. First-generation college or trade school students are encouraged to share what this milestone means to them.
We believe your past does not limit your potential. Describe how this scholarship would support your next steps and help you invest in a future that feels meaningful, fulfilling, and your own.
There is no “right” answer, we value authenticity, hope, and vision.
