Lyn Schneider Memorial Scholarship
The Lyn Schneider Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the life, artistry, and generous spirit of Lyn Schneider—a gifted photographer, devoted educator, and joyful force of nature whose passion for creativity, connection, and kindness touched everyone she knew. Lyn had an extraordinary ability to find beauty in the everyday. Her photographs captured candid moments—images that told honest stories of love, presence, and human connection. Her work reflected who she was at her core: warm, vibrant, and full of life.
As an educator, Lyn had a rare ability to make every child feel seen, valued, and capable of achieving anything. Her classroom was a place of encouragement, creativity, and confidence. Music, like photography, was a constant rhythm in Lyn’s life—fueling her joy, friendships, and unforgettable moments. This scholarship seeks to support students who share Lyn’s love for creative expression through photography and/or music, and who demonstrate a desire to use their art to tell stories, build connection, and bring light into the world.
Preference will be given to applicants who embody Lyn’s spirit—curious, compassionate, joyful, and generous—and who believe creativity has the power to make people feel seen.
Through this scholarship, Lyn’s legacy lives on in every image captured, every note played, and every story told with heart.
Any high school senior in New Jersey may apply for this scholarship opportunity if they have at least a 3.0 GPA and if they’re pursuing photography or music, but preference will be given to applicants from Watchung Hills Regional High School. Successful applicants will be those who embody Lyn’s curious, compassionate, joyful, and generous spirit and those who believe creativity has the power to make people feel seen.
