Lester and Coque Gibson are not only pillars in their community but also giants in their family.

Together, they built a legacy centered around hard work, community service, and keeping family first.  As the first elected African-American commissioner in McLennan county, he served the constituents of precinct two. Lester Gibson made a tremendous difference by giving a voice to those who did not yet know how to speak for themselves. His can-do attitude and determination left a lasting impact on his community and family.

This scholarship seeks to continue the legacy of Lester and Coque Gibson by offering financial assistance to students pursuing higher education in an effort to serve their community and build a legacy of their own.

Any undergraduate student at a two or four-year degree program who is a resident of Texas with community service experience may apply for this scholarship.

To apply, share about who you are and what you hope to accomplish with your degree and how you plan to serve your community.
