The Junie Project was created by an HBCU graduate to support the next generation of students pursuing careers in medicine. Established by an HBCU alumnus for HBCU students, this scholarship reflects a commitment to giving back to the institutions that cultivate future leaders in healthcare.

The scholarship is open to undergraduate students at any stage of their college journey who are pursuing or preparing for a career in medicine. Its goal is to help reduce financial barriers while encouraging students who demonstrate dedication, ambition, and a passion for improving health outcomes in their communities.

Through this scholarship, an HBCU alumnus seeks to reinvest in HBCU students who aspire to become physicians and healthcare leaders. By supporting undergraduate students during their academic development, the scholarship aims to strengthen the pipeline of talented individuals entering the medical field. Recipients will be selected based on the overall strength of their application, including academic achievement, demonstrated commitment to medicine, clarity of goals, and the quality of their essay responses.

Applicants must:

  • Be African-American/Black and currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at a Historically Black College or University (HBCU)
  • Be pursuing or planning to pursue a career in medicine or a related healthcare field
  • Be enrolled at any undergraduate level (freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior)

To apply, tell us about your motivation for choosing a career in medicine, your goals and aspirations in the medical field, and how this scholarship will help you achieve those goals. Additionally, submit a resume outlining your academic achievements, leadership experiences, community service, and relevant activities.
