James Lee Fuller and Evangelist Lorita Fuller built a life rooted in family, faith, hard work, and service. Married in 1970, they made Stockton, California, their home and spent decades investing in the people around them.
Lorita devoted 43 years to the Stockton Unified School District, helping nourish children and making sure students who needed extra support could receive a meal. Through her Christian faith, prayer, and ministry, she encouraged others with compassion. James dedicated 38 years to San Joaquin Delta College, becoming Director of Maintenance. He also mentored young men, opened doors to opportunity, and quietly supported local churches and community activities.
The James Lee and Lorita Fuller Legacy Scholarship carries their commitment to education and community into the next generation. It recognizes students who persevere through challenges, demonstrate strength of character, and use their time and talents to help others.
Applicants must be Christian BIPOC high school seniors or current undergraduate students who reside in San Joaquin County, California and have a minimum 3.5 GPA and have volunteer experience. First-generation college students will receive preference.
To apply, write an essay about a challenge you have faced, the perseverance or personal growth you demonstrated, and how you hope to use your education to make a positive difference in your community. Include a meaningful example of service, leadership, kindness, or community involvement. Submit a recommendation letter from a church leader, community organization representative, service supervisor, or another appropriate individual who can speak to your service and contribution.
