There are many scholarships available for a four-year under-graduate program. However, there are a lot of students who do not want to go down the four-year degree path, are not interested in further studies, cannot afford high college fees, or just need to start working immediately to support themselves and their families. Very often, these students are from low-income families and are more interested in trade/vocational schools to get going quickly without the burden of very heavy education costs.

This scholarship seeks to support students who are pursuing trade/vocational school programs by reducing the burden of tuition and other related costs. It is available to high school seniors or those having at least a high school diploma.

This course should be at an accredited trade school or college, with the course duration being for a minimum of six months up to a maximum of twenty-four months (2 years).

Dolores Campbell
Hondros College of NursingCincinnati, OH
My name is Dolores Campbell, and I am a single mother pursuing a career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Hondros College. My long-term career goal is to become a compassionate and skilled nurse who can provide quality care to underserved populations, particularly individuals in correctional facilities who face limited access to healthcare. I am passionate about nursing because it allows me to make a tangible difference in the lives of others, combining hands-on care, education, and advocacy to empower patients and improve their health outcomes. Ultimately, I hope to continue my education beyond the LPN program, advancing to a registered nurse and specializing in areas where I can maximize my impact, including preventive care, health education, and mentoring others pursuing healthcare careers. Becoming a nurse is not just a career aspiration for me; it is a calling fueled by personal experience. As a single mother, I have faced significant hardships while striving to create a better future for my 6-year-old son and myself. There was a period when we were at risk of homelessness, sleeping in our car, unsure of how we would make it through each day. Those experiences strengthened my resilience, determination, and ability to persevere through adversity. Nursing allows me to turn the difficulties I have overcome into meaningful action, providing care, comfort, and guidance to individuals who need it most. Currently, I am experiencing financial hardship that threatens my ability to continue my education. I am behind on tuition payments and at risk of losing my place in school. As a single mother, my resources are extremely limited. I work as a medical assistant, earning an income that is barely enough to cover rent, childcare, utilities, groceries, and transportation. These financial strains make it difficult to focus fully on my studies and pursue my goal of becoming an LPN. Receiving financial assistance would allow me to remain in school, continue my training, and ultimately achieve my career objectives. This support would not only help me complete my education but also enable me to make a positive impact in my community. As a nurse, I will serve underserved populations, educate patients about preventive care, and provide compassionate care to those who may feel overlooked. I am committed to using my skills, experience, and resilience to improve the lives of others while creating a stable and promising future for my son. In conclusion, my career objectives are to become a skilled LPN, serve vulnerable populations, and advance in the nursing field to maximize my impact. My financial need is urgent, as I face hardship and the risk of homelessness while working to support my family and pursue my education. Financial assistance would ensure that I can continue my studies, fulfill my goals, and ultimately contribute to my community through nursing, turning my challenges into a story of perseverance, dedication, and meaningful service.

What I’m really passionate about lately is helping others & somehow making a difference in the life of young kids that are growing up in the same neighborhood as I did. Even though it is not close to what my career path is now, I know that winning this scholarship will help me financially but will also be a hand needed to complete school without the burden of having to worry about weather or not it will get paid for or worrying about completing my degree, this scholar will also show how someone from the lowest streets of Houston Texas can win scholarships, how someone with no background of any family member ever attending college can also make it happen. the goal for me is to show the generation that comes after me that there’s much more than a neighborhood full of violence, that education & setting goals to better your life is the way. That education will open many doors & take your places you never imagined & will help you achieve much more than what we’re so used to. its not easy. Grew up in the ghetto, surrounded by gang violence and poverty. It's a miracle I made it out alive honestly, I remember telling my friends it’ll be a blessing if we make it past 18. I am now 26 years old & I am forever grateful for the experiences because it made me the person I am today, even tho there were bad choices along the way I realized that making the good ones were much better and now I'm trying to make a difference with my life. I remember nights listening to gunshots ring out outside. I remember friends who lost their lives to the streets at a young age and family members struggling to make ends meet. But I also remember the resilience. The way we looked out for each other, the way we found joy in the smallest things. The way we refused to give up, no matter what. That's what I carry with me today. That's what drives me to speak out against the “ hood “ to speak for those who are still trapped in the cycle of violence and poverty. It ain't easy, but it's necessary. We gotta be the change we want to see. We gotta be the ones to break the cycle, to make a new path for the generations coming after us. What they see is what they do. We can do better. We gotta do better.
