GraceFest Empowering Futures Scholarship
Parents face many obstacles when trying to better themselves and pursue their education, often having to sacrifice family time in order to prioritize their future.
Young parents face particular struggles due to their young age, as they often have limited financial resources and may still be in high school which offers little flexibility in class schedules. Moms have to learn to balance their time spent with children, their time for schoolwork, and their time devoted to self-care or socialization.
This scholarship aims to support underprivileged mothers so they can overcome the challenges they face and remain committed to their education and goals. Whether they are a teen mom looking to continue their education, or a single mom hoping to go back to school, moms deserve our support.
Any African-American high school graduate or undergraduate student in Alabama who is a first-generation college student and a teen and/or single-mother may apply for this scholarship opportunity. Applicants must show a commitment to academic excellence and career aspirations, and be pursuing a two or four year degree. Preference will be given to applicants who are low-income and from Randolph city and the surrounding areas.
To apply, tell us about your experiences as a teen mother, how they have affected your education, and how they have helped spur you toward success.
Share your personal story, including the obstacles you have faced, the resilience you have cultivated, and the dreams you are working toward. How has your role as a mother influenced your educational aspirations?
