Early childhood education is important to me because it shapes the foundation of a child’s future. The first few years of life are some of the most critical for brain development, social skills, and emotional growth. As a teacher, I have seen firsthand how young children thrive when they are given the right support, guidance, and encouragement. Watching a child go from struggling with a concept to mastering it is one of the most rewarding experiences. I love being part of that process and knowing that I am making a difference in their learning journey. My passion for education started at a young age, but it was solidified through the influence of my late grandpa. He believed in the power of learning and always encouraged me to be patient and kind. His words have stayed with me throughout my life, reminding me that the best teachers are the ones who truly care about their students. Seeing children grow and develop over time, even in just three or four months, is something that continues to inspire me. I love watching their confidence build as they learn new skills and overcome challenges. Being a single mother has had a huge impact on my educational goals. It has made me even more determined to succeed because I want to provide a stable and fulfilling life for my child. At times, balancing parenting, work, and school has been challenging, but it has also made me stronger and more focused. I have learned to be resilient, adaptable, and resourceful, all qualities that also help me as an educator. My experience as a mother has deepened my understanding of child development and the importance of creating a nurturing learning environment. I know what it is like to want the best for a child, and that drives me to be the best teacher I can be. Throughout my journey, there have been several books that have shaped my perspective and had a lasting impact on me. The first is The Whole-Brain Child by Daniel Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson. This book helped me understand how young children’s brains develop and gave me strategies to support emotional regulation and learning in the classroom. It reinforced my belief in the importance of a responsive and supportive teaching approach. The second book that impacted me is Mindset by Carol Dweck. This book changed the way I view challenges, both in my personal and professional life. It taught me the importance of having a growth mindset and encouraging the same in my students. I want the children I teach to believe in themselves, embrace mistakes as learning opportunities, and never give up on their goals. The third book that has influenced me is The Montessori Method by Maria Montessori. I appreciate the emphasis on hands-on learning and child-led exploration. This book reinforced my belief in the importance of giving children opportunities to be independent and take ownership of their learning. It has shaped the way I approach teaching by making sure I provide experiences that are engaging, meaningful, and developmentally appropriate. Early childhood education is more than just a career for me. It is something I am deeply passionate about because I know how much of a difference it makes. Being a single mother has given me a greater appreciation for the importance of education, both for myself and for the children I teach. I want to continue growing as an educator so I can inspire, support, and guide young learners as they build the foundation for their futures.
