Drake Wood Suicide Awareness Scholarship
Drake Wood was a beloved son and friend who sadly passed when he was just sixteen years old.
Drake’s story is tragic yet not uncommon, as many people struggle with mental health and suicide ideation, especially in their teen years. When seeking help is discouraged, and conversations around mental health feel unwelcome, young people may feel they don’t have an avenue towards healing. Suicide prevention is one of the most important forms of advocacy and awareness for teenagers right now, and can save countless lives.
This scholarship aims to honor the memory of Drake Wood by uplifting students who have helped in some way to support suicide prevention.
Any high school sophomore, junior, or senior at Zionsville Community High School in Zionsville, Indiana, or alumni of now attending a two or four-year college or trade or technical school may apply for this scholarship opportunity if they have lost a friend or family member to suicide or if they have personally struggled with suicidal ideation.
