Hello my name is Alicia Harrell, I am an incoming freshman at Albany State University. While attending Albany State University, I will be majoring in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. In the healthcare field, I want to be able to impact the world in a positive way. Impacting the world through the healthcare field will be a long-term endeavor. This will require dedication, persistence, and a collaborative mindset. Adapting my plan as I gain experience, learn from others, and discover new opportunities along the way. Being an Ultrasound Technician can have a significant impact on the world in several ways. As a future Ultrasound Technician, I will play a crucial role in diagnosing and monitoring various medical conditions. Expertise in performing and interpreting ultrasound scans can contribute to accurate diagnoses, timely interventions, and improved patient outcomes. My skills as an Ultrasound Technician will contribute to providing expecting parents with valuable information about their baby's growth, identifying any potential issues, and assisting healthcare professionals in making informed decisions regarding prenatal care. By working as an Ultrasound Technician, I can contribute to increasing access to essential diagnostic services, particularly in underserved communities, where healthcare disparities exist. By staying updated with advancements in ultrasound technology and techniques, I can contribute to the field's growth. I can participate in research studies, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, and share knowledge and experiences with colleagues and future ultrasound technicians. Dedication to ongoing education and research will help advance the field and improve patient care in the long run. In addition to physical care, ultrasound technicians provide emotional and psychological support to patients and their families. They often act as a source of comfort, reassurance, and guidance during challenging times. Their compassion and empathy create a positive impact by fostering trust, reducing anxiety, and enhancing the overall patient experience. The impact I want to make as an ultrasound technician goes beyond the technical aspects of the job. My ability to be compassionate, empathic, and ability to connect with patients will also have a positive influence on their overall healthcare experience. Overall, being a part of the healthcare field allows me to make a positive impact by improving health outcomes, promoting public health, advocating for vulnerable populations, advancing medical knowledge, providing emotional support, contributing to the economy, and responding to crises. It is a rewarding profession that contributes to the betterment of society as a whole. This impact that I want to make in the world will not happen overnight, It will require dedication, persistence, and a collaborative mindset. As I embark on the journey of self-discovery, I find myself contemplating how I perceive my dream future self. Visualizing this ideal version of who I could become ignites a sense of excitement and motivation within me. May 25th is when my new life takes shape. I made the decision where this next phase will happen. I'm about to embark on a completely unknown journey. It's putting one foot in front of the other and fearlessly pursuing the next dream. Being an ultrasound technician will have a significant impact on the world, and I am ready to be that person who has a positive impact on society
