
This scholarship has been established to honor the memories of: Claude, Dorothy and Stanford Graham and is named the CDS Memorial Scholarship. Faith and generosity anchored Claude and Dorothy's lives, with Christian giving serving as their ultimate priority. While Claude never received a formal education, he possessed a brilliant mind,a sharp interest and a lifelong passion for learning. Sharing his father's brilliance, Stanford Graham leaves behind a legacy of great accomplishments during his 62 years of life.
The “CDS Memorial Scholarship” was established by a daughter, sister, and retired educator, to celebrate our family legacy—one built on the deep-rooted belief that a meaningful life is defined by lifelong learning and the joy of giving back to our community.
Carrying forward the legacy of Claude, Dorothy, and Stanford Graham, this scholarship empowers future educators and medical professionals to achieve their dreams. The Graham family is dedicated to creating opportunities for motivated students throughout Cook County, Illinois, who are passionate about entering these vital fields. If you are a first-generation student striving to make a difference, we encourage you to apply.
Any high school senior who is a resident of Cook County, Illinois, may apply for this scholarship opportunity if they are pursuing teaching or the medical field.
To apply, write a short essay telling us about your academic journey and what you hope to accomplish in the future. Additionally, submit one letter of recommendation.

The winner will be publicly announced on Apr 4, 2027. Prior to the announcement date, we may contact finalists with additional questions about their application. We will work with donors to review all applications according to the scholarship criteria. Winners will be chosen based on the merit of their application.
Award checks will be sent to the financial aid office of the winner's academic institution or future academic institution in their name to be applied to their tuition, and in the name of their institution (depending on the school's requirements). If the award is for a qualified educational non-tuition expense, we will work with the winner directly to distribute the award and make sure it goes towards qualified expenses.
Before we award the scholarship, the winner will be required to confirm their academic enrollment status. Depending on the circumstances, verification of Student ID and/or their most recent transcript will be required.
