I am Stage 4B Colon Cancer. The last 6 months have been a roller coaster. I decided while I've been enduring my chemo I would finish my B.A. I am looking forward to finishing my degree so I can financially support my disabled mother and autistic son. I'm confident that I will find a way to make it through the next 2 years. On March 15, 2021, I was taken by ambulance to the hospital. My entire world changed that day. It was found I had a tumor in my colon. It was determined I had cancer. Two days later I was in surgery to remove the mass and half my colon, while inside the doctor discovered that cancer had Mets to my ovaries. The doctor made a split decision and removed both ovaries as well. When I awoke I was given the news that I had Stage 4B Colon Cancer. This is the worst stage of colon cancer. I don’t remember much after that. Scared is an understatement. The doctor was trying to explain our plan to defeat cancer, but I didn’t hear anything he said. I underwent six months of intense chemo. Side effects were horrible, to say the least. This past Friday it was determined I was in remission and I rang my bell! That is when I decided to finish what I started many years ago…my degree! I will make time every day to work on my homework and make a place where I can concentrate!
