Joyce Tolbert, a mother of five children, was passionate about outreach based on showing God’s love through service to others. She believed in the power of education, especially for women of color.

The Tolbert Family would like to honor their matriarch by supporting the educational endeavors of young women of color who display the same passion for outreach or the same B.A.B.Y. L.O.V.E. spirit.

Someone who embodies the B.A.B.Y. L.O.V.E. spirit has a beautiful heart and a yearning to help others. They are obedient to their purpose, virtuous in all things, and hold an exemplary passion for education.

s a young African American woman, I strive to embody the B.A.B.Y. L.O.V.E. spirit in every aspect of my life. Joyce Tolbert’s legacy of service, education, and unwavering commitment to helping others resonates deeply with me. My journey has been shaped by a passion for outreach and a belief in the transformative power of education, particularly for young women of color. My heart yearns to make a difference in my community, and I have actively sought opportunities to serve others. I volunteer at local organizations that focus on empowering underprivileged youth through education and mentorship. Whether it’s tutoring elementary students or organizing workshops that promote self-esteem and academic success, I embrace every chance to uplift those around me. These experiences have taught me that service is not just about giving back; it’s about fostering relationships, building trust, and creating a supportive environment where individuals can thrive. Education has always been a cornerstone of my life. I believe that knowledge is a powerful tool that can break down barriers and create opportunities. As a member of the National Honor Society, I’ve worked to promote educational initiatives that encourage my peers to value their learning journey. I have organized study groups and led discussions on topics relevant to our community, focusing on the unique challenges we face as women of color. I want to ensure that my peers recognize their worth and potential, just as I have come to understand mine. Being obedient to my purpose means staying true to my values and striving for excellence in all that I do. I am committed to pursuing a career in education and advocacy, where I can continue to uplift young women like myself. My goal is to create spaces where they feel seen, heard, and empowered to pursue their dreams. I believe that every young woman deserves the opportunity to receive an education and to realize her full potential, regardless of her circumstances. The B.A.B.Y. L.O.V.E. spirit also emphasizes virtue, and I strive to live a life that reflects integrity and kindness. I actively engage in conversations about social justice and equity, advocating for change that supports marginalized communities. By sharing my story and the stories of others, I hope to inspire action and awareness in those around me. In conclusion, I embody the B.A.B.Y. L.O.V.E. spirit through my commitment to service, my passion for education, and my unwavering dedication to uplifting my community. By following in Joyce Tolbert’s footsteps, I aspire to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young women of color. This scholarship would not only support my educational endeavors but also allow me to continue spreading the love and service that Joyce so passionately championed. I am eager to honor her legacy by being a force for good in the lives of others, embodying the spirit of B.A.B.Y. L.O.V.E. in everything I do.
