Joyce Tolbert, a mother of five children, was passionate about outreach based on showing God’s love through service to others. She believed in the power of education, especially for women of color. 

The Tolbert Family would like to honor their matriarch by supporting the educational endeavors of young women of color who display the same passion for outreach or the same B.A.B.Y. L.O.V.E. spirit. 

Someone who embodies the B.A.B.Y. L.O.V.E. spirit has a beautiful heart and a yearning to help others. They are obedient to their purpose, virtuous in all things, and hold an exemplary passion for education.

s a young African American woman, I strive to embody the B.A.B.Y. L.O.V.E. spirit in every aspect of my life. Joyce Tolbert’s legacy of service, education, and unwavering commitment to helping others resonates deeply with me. My journey has been shaped by a passion for outreach and a belief in the transformative power of education, particularly for young women of color. My heart yearns to make a difference in my community, and I have actively sought opportunities to serve others. I volunteer at local organizations that focus on empowering underprivileged youth through education and mentorship. Whether it’s tutoring elementary students or organizing workshops that promote self-esteem and academic success, I embrace every chance to uplift those around me. These experiences have taught me that service is not just about giving back; it’s about fostering relationships, building trust, and creating a supportive environment where individuals can thrive.
