Sloane Stephens Announces Fourth Annual Doc & Glo Scholarship on Bold.org in Loving Memory of Her Grandparents, Offering $15,000 to Deserving Students

March 04, 2025

SAN FRANCISCO (March 4, 2025) – American tennis star Sloane Stephens and Bold.org, the leading scholarship and student finance platform, have partnered once again to launch the fourth cycle of the Sloane Stephens Doc & Glo Scholarship, reinforcing their shared commitment to education. This year, the Sloane Stephens Doc & Glo scholarship will award $15,000 to six outstanding students. Eligible applicants include high school seniors, undergraduate students, and graduate students with a 2.5 GPA or higher.

My beloved grandparents, affectionately known as Doc and Glo, instilled in me the importance of education from a very early age, even as I trained to become a professional tennis player,” said Sloane Stephens. “My grandfather, Dr. Noel Smith, emigrated from Trinidad to study medicine at Howard University on a scholarship before settling down in Fresno with my grandmother, Glo, who dedicated her life to community service. Their belief in education shaped my journey, and now, through the Doc & Glo Scholarship, I want to support the next generation of students pursuing their own dreams. Education is the foundation for success, and I’m honored to continue working with Bold.org to make a difference in students' lives.”

Stephens’ philanthropic impact extends far beyond the tennis court. Since launching the Sloane Stephens Foundation in 2013, she has worked to provide underserved youth with access to education and sports, ensuring they have safe places to learn, grow, and thrive. Her foundation has supported over 10,000 students annually, offering them opportunities to excel both academically and athletically.

The Sloane Stephens Doc & Glo Scholarship continues this mission by honoring Stephens’ late grandparents and their unwavering belief in the power of education. Their legacy also continues on through Doc & Glo, Stephens’ newly launched body care brand, which reflects the value of resilience, kindness, and self-belief that her grandparents instilled in her. Inspired by family and crafted for life in motion, Doc & Glo is designed to empower individuals to embrace each day with confidence and care.

Now in its fourth year, the Sloane Stephens Doc & Glo Scholarship aims to support six students as they pursue their academic and professional dreams. High school seniors, undergraduate students, and graduate students with a GPA of 2.5 or higher are encouraged to apply. Applicants must share their personal stories, highlighting their background, passions, aspirations, and the experiences that have shaped who they are today.

Doc & Glo’s unwavering commitment to education and Sloane’s dedication to honoring her grandparents’ legacy has been truly inspiring to us at Bold.org,” said Tori Meglio, VP of Donors at Bold.org. We’re proud to support the fourth year of this impactful scholarship and look forward to seeing the incredible students it empowers in 2025.”
