Our goal

We are creating this fund in honor of Zion and Sherry Zollicoffer, a grandson and grandmother forever connected by love, joy, and a rare genetic disorder called Peutz‑Jeghers Syndrome (PJS). PJS affects an estimated 1 in 25,000 to 1 in 300,000 people and significantly increases the risk of developing various types of cancer. Both Zion and Sherry lived with the challenges of this disease and both met those challenges with extraordinary spirit. Zion (3) was a bright, happy child whose joy was contagious. Even with the complications of PJS, he lived fully, laughed easily, and made every room lighter. His grandmother Sherry, the matriarch of the family, was known for her hearty laugh, her deep care for others, and her love of travel, music, and good cooking. She carried joy with her everywhere she went and passed that joy on to Zion. This fund is our way of honoring their lives, their resilience, and the love they shared. We want their legacy to support others who are navigating chronic illness, rare disease, or the responsibilities of caregiving. Funds raised will support a student at Metropolitan Community College studying culinary arts, hospitality and restaurant leadership, or nursing; fields that reflect Sherry’s passions and the care that surrounded Zion throughout his life. Through this fund, we hope to ease someone’s journey, celebrate perseverance, rare disease day, and keep Zion and Sherry’s joy moving forward into the world.
