I support this scholarship to assist students to practice midwifery in SC at our flagship university. The need for practicing midwives in SC is exceptional.

South Carolina ranks 8th nationally for maternal morbidity. Fourteen of 36 counties have no maternity care provider. Black women are more than twice as likely to die from childbirth. At present, fewer than 80 midwives practice in our state. We have an opportunity to turn this around with a new midwifery graduate level education program at our state's flagship university. Your gift will help. Thank you.
