Our goal

I attend tax and accounting seminars every year and the people in attendance are overwhelmingly older Caucasian men. The local accounting firms in my area are overwhelmingly owned and operated by older Caucasian men. I have had clients that have been both excited and relieved to find an accountant, CPA, and tax preparer that is not only younger than many accountants currently in the field but more importantly, a woman. With women becoming increasingly independent, earning higher incomes, and starting businesses of their own, they are looking for accountants that think and look like them. I have had clients that have complained about prior accountants (older Caucasian men) patronizing them, not explaining things, or trying to simplify explanations as if women are not capable of understanding. This scholarship is to promote careers in accounting and to reward graduating female seniors in New York State who are pursuing a degree in accounting.
