Tammurra Hamilton was a beautiful, intelligent, compassionate, and creative young woman whose smile could brighten any room. She had dreams, talents, and a heart full of love, but like so many others, she silently struggled with mental health challenges. On January 14, 2014, my world changed forever when I lost my daughter to suicide. No parent is ever prepared for that kind of loss. The grief is immeasurable, but I made a decision that Tammurra’s story would not end with tragedy. Her life would become a legacy of hope. In her memory, I founded Tam’s Beautiful Butterflies, a nonprofit organization dedicated to suicide prevention, mental health awareness, grief support, youth empowerment, and scholarships. Through advocacy, education, and community outreach, we strive to remind people that they are seen, valued, and never alone. The Tammurra Hamilton Legacy Scholarship was created to help students pursue their educational dreams while honoring those who demonstrate resilience, compassion, and perseverance. It is more than a scholarship—it is a living tribute to a young woman whose life continues to inspire hope and positive change. Every contribution to this fund helps ensure that Tammurra’s legacy lives on by investing in future leaders, easing the financial burden of education, and reminding students that even after life’s greatest challenges, hope can still take flight.
