Our story
Our son, Kevin, was born on May 9, 2005. He was our first born. He was creative and loved to know how things worked. He was always taking things apart and building other things with those items. Sometimes it would work, other times, it wouldn't. But that never stopped him from trying. Kevin was not book smart. He was not interested in school, only the social part of it. He had trouble focusing unless it was something that sparked his interest. As his parents, when we saw this spark, we would do anything to help him light that fire and make it bright. It took until high school for him to find his true calling. His introduction into welding was a short summer class that lasted a week. It was enough for him to continue throughout high school and during the summer. A week before his senior year, tragedy struck our family and his life was stolen from this world. He was a gift to not only our family but to everyone who met him. He lives on in our heart. Help us Weld Our Soul.
Our goal
Our son, Kevin was a light whose life was tragically cut short one week before his senior year of high school. Kevin had a passion for welding and saw a bright future in this career path. He wanted to join the Navy and become an underwater welder. A very dangerous but honorable career path. This light was sparked because of a career training education (CTE) program that he was interested in before he started high school. Kevin was so proud of his first project he brought home. As his parents, we saw this spark and change in him. We knew that we would do whatever it took to keep this fire burning. Sadly, his light and passion was stolen from us. He was stolen from this world. As his parents, we know we cannot just see another's light be put out because they do not have the funding to continue their career. Help us Weld Our Soul.

I am committed to this scholarship in remembrance of someone so special who fell victim of today's tragic epidemic of Fentanyl poisoning. Remembering Kevin. Forever 17.
