Our story

My father was a man of few words. He had one liners and quotes that were ingrained into my brain. One day I had asked if he could do my homework in the 5th grade. I sucked at Math and he was a genius. He said “ if you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, but if you teach a man to fish. You feed him for a lifetime”. So we sat at that table and he showed me how to do it. Step by step, if I didn’t understand he would say it another way. That patience taught me that everyone deserves a chance to learn. Even if they suck at math.

Our goal

In 2021 I had hopes of becoming a music educator. I had played so many instruments and loved the study of music. I was away from home and wanted to make a difference in young people lives through education and music. While striving for my education. I had lost someone important to me, My father. My world stopped and it was hard to find a new normal. Motivation was hard, my focus was skewed and I didn’t know what to do. My college wasn’t too equipped to handle me and fell flat to help me towards my goals. I truly felt like I was alone. Although I was tried, I still had joy and still had a passion for captivating young people through community service. I had to take a break, and that momentum I had ceased and it was hard to get back into school. This fund is to encourage students to keep going, even in those trying times. Grief is a part of life that is hard to understand and doesn’t go away right away. Education is important and I want to be able to share the love so you can brighten the hearts of many.
