Our story
My mom was an avid reader, she loved reading all types of books. She enjoyed reading to me no matter what time of day it was and that love and excitement for books made it's way to me. My siblings, dad and I always saw my mom practicing self-care by reading - it was her refuge and safe place. We would go the library weekly to check out books and take back home. I still remember when she took me to get my library card which I still have to this day! My life has been impacted significantly by reading.
Our goal
In the age of Artificial Intelligence and social media, I wanted to find those students who are still passionate about the written word. Those students who always have a book (Kindle, e-reader, etc.) no matter where they are. I developed a passion for reading as a kid because my mom not only read to me but was an avid reader herself. Her love of reading came from her mom, my grandmother and I simply want to honor those who enjoy reading.
