The Whitmore Scholarship

I am starting the Whitmore Scholarship to invest in the future of African American male students who are preparing to attend Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). As a second-generation college student and an HBCU student myself, I understand firsthand the challenges—financial, emotional, and systemic—that Black male students often face on the path to higher education. Too often, brilliant, community-minded young men are forced to defer or abandon their dreams due to a lack of financial support and guidance. The Whitmore Scholarship was born out of a deep desire to break that cycle. It is not just about awarding money—it's about affirming a student’s worth, reminding them that their goals are valid, and making sure they know someone believes in them. My goal is to create a scholarship fund that supports young Black men who demonstrate leadership, integrity, and a commitment to academic and personal growth. Through this fund, I hope to contribute to a future where more Black men thrive in collegiate spaces, graduate, and go on to uplift their communities. By supporting their journey early on, we are planting seeds of excellence that will bloom into lifelong impact.
