Our goal

Today, the dream of becoming a doctor is increasingly out of reach for students from low-income backgrounds. Rising costs for exams, applications, and study resources disproportionately affect aspiring physicians who already face systemic barriers, leaving many unable to afford basic necessities while preparing for their careers. I’ve lived this struggle firsthand. As the child of low-income immigrants, I navigated medical school and residency while juggling food insecurity, mounting debt, and the responsibility of supporting my family. I’ve stood in food pantry lines while studying for exams, lost sleep over how to afford residency applications, and watched loved ones skip life-saving care because it was out of reach. These experiences made me not only a more empathetic doctor but a better advocate for patients from underserved communities. Diversity in medicine isn’t just about representation—it’s about better care. Doctors from low-income backgrounds bring lived experience that helps bridge gaps in trust and understanding. However, the hidden costs of pursuing medicine continue to lock many out of the profession. By providing scholarships for study resources, exam fees, and applications, you can directly empower students from underserved backgrounds to become the compassionate, resilient doctors our communities desperately need. Together, we can break down barriers and ensure that medicine reflects the people it serves. Every dollar brings us closer to a more equitable healthcare future.
