Our story
African American students are often underserved and underrepresented in higher education. African American students are far more likely to attend underfunded schools than their white peers, with 45% of Black students attending high-poverty schools as compared to just 8% of white students. This can leave African American students feeling unprepared to pursue a college degree.
Our goal
In memory of Ruth and Johnnie McCoy, this scholarship fund aims to support African American high school seniors or current undergraduate students in any area of study so that they can pursue their dreams.
