Our story
Desirie McKay lost her son, Noah A.H. Wilson, to suicide in August of 2020. He was an academic scholar and graduated 10th in his high school class of 367 students. He was a Massey Scholar, gaining a full tuition scholarship at The School of the Art Institute at Chicago and was beginning his sophomore year before his passing. Depression robbed Noah of his livelihood and was a continuing challenge in his life. He was gifted in visual arts and songwriting, becoming a phenomenal rap artist. His music and art have impacted his peers and resonated with many others within the arts community and beyond. Aside from these successes, Noah also helped many of his peers struggling with their own mental health. To honor the creative and empathetic person he was, this fund will help raise awareness about mental health and aid students pursuing an artistic future.
