Our story

Jake Stover was a beloved son who passed away in 2021 at the age of sixteen. He was just starting to become the man he was meant to be. Jake had a passion for life. From a young age, he showed a great love for the outdoors and art. As he got older, it seemed he was always trying to find a way to turn these passions into a lifestyle. He was able to turn his creative talents into his own custom sneaker and restorations business, Stovetop Customs. Additionally, he created a website, social media presence, and would travel to sneaker shows to display and sell his creations. When he wasn’t creating something, Jake often spent his time outdoors. When Jake passed away, he left behind him a legacy of supporting others and helping them achieve their educational and career goals. The Stover Family, who have been fighting student debt since February 2022, want to honor Jake by supporting worthy students like him who are looking to leave their mark on this world.

Our goal

This scholarship fund seeks to support graduating seniors who share in Jake Stover's diverse passions and seek to improve themselves and their communities.

My son is on the "rival" Oldham County Bass Fishing team and was social media friends with Jake. I often think about Jake as my son heads out for "just one more." He too is very passionate about fishing (and wrestling). Know that you are being wished well.
