Our story

The Sunshine “DC” Memorial Scholarship Fund was established November 2023 in memory of Diega C. Clapp who left us to soon on December 23, 2022. She graduated from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, a Historically Black College University, who valued education and engaged the student body in a liberal and free-spirited way. Diega was passionate about helping others and had a love for life-long learning. She knew how important education was in improving people, families, and the community. She had a kind gentle soul and spirit that left long lasting impressions on those who knew her and encountered her beloved spirit as a pillar of the community. To never be forgotten or missed it would be an honor to donate what you can, on behalf of the Sunshine “DC” Memorial Scholarship Fund to support African American students who are from the Maryland area.

Our goal

Our goal is to reach a minimum of $5,000.00 to begin the distribution to students who meet the eligible criteria. Students should be African American and from the state of Maryland, with at least a 2.5 GPA.
